I'm a little frustrated with what bitmain is doing here.

10th batch is only $780? What about all us miners who bought batch 1-8 before the difficulty skyrocketed, for 2-3x what the batch 10 miner is selling for?

At the current difficulty, most of us don't even have a prayer to ROI anytime soon. And if we want to get out of the game and sell our equipment for something even close to a break even, we're stuck because bitmain is selling almost the same thing for $780 each.

For the love of science, bitmain.... please stop making more s7 miners. I'm begging you. All of us batch 1-9 suckers are screwed at this point.

Oh it gets better. I can't ship my RMA'd dead s7 hashboard to Bitmain because of the Spring Festival. The RMA letter says no one will be there to receive shipments until it is over... Glad it's 'only' ~1.5TH currently missing from that miner for over a week now.

Exactly, even the prices at hashnest are way low that selling them is not worth it. Hope nobody buys the new batches anymore so they get to stop making another batch.

Back in early 2014 my total initial out-of-pocket was ~$8k. Four thousand of that was wasted for most of the year due the AMT/Bitmine.ch scam, the rest went to Ants. For the most part all BTC earned was re-invested in expanding the pharm/new miners replacing old. I'm now up to 70TH/s with all miners (and the original investment paid back) paid for by BTC earned with a nice kitty left over. It takes time and patience but unless the impending halving hits harder than expected I think it will still pay off to start now.

good to hear that overall it still worked out for you. I made a similar sized investment this past November and the crushing difficulty increases have got me slightly paranoid. Things are going good so far but it does kinda get to you and makes it hard to sit back and wait for the returns to roll in. Although, with my effectively 2c/kwh electricity rate I don't see how I possibly can't ROI eventually as it should keep me competitive even with the low cost mega farms for a long time.

What are the enhancements of the newer firmware?
What are the features of the older firmware? 
Should I change from the Dec 3rd to Dec 11th? 
If I have a Batch 1 and run it at 625 should I upgrade to 600(original) or 625(current) setting?

I have heard these questions asked before, but have only heard speculation.  Please let us know.

Dont change the firmware if it works.  You risk messing up your machine for no benefit.

At least you're able to get an RMA request response. I've had three batch 7 miners with faulty controllers only running 1 hashboard since friday, and no response to my RMA. My 5.05th miners are now running around 1.6th each, so I'm down about 10th overall right now

so even with the HST code on my fedex shipment under my street address, and EIN/Tax ID and under shipment notes for Batch 8 and 9 I just received a bill in the mail from fedex for 35 bucks for the customs fees.

so I think the HST trick is either hit or miss, or completely useless

I'm co-founder of and Sr. Engineer at http://www.synchronlaser.com/ so in a way the free electric is part of my comps 14kw of that is concentrated in one area that can tolerate the noise and heat of what is now mostly s7's, the rest is mostly nice quiet s3's in various offices for supplemental heating aka space-heaters along with my 1.2THs (re-branded Dragon) rig I eventually got from AMT. Yes, it is still running perfect 24x7x365 since Aug 28, 2014.
