"Printing money" is mostly used as a metaphor. Governments are already moving from paper money into digital. I mean digital fiat, and not cryptocurrencies as you might think. Cash (including paper bills and specie) accounts only for a tiny part of all money circulating in the economy. And what's more, even the money issued by the government itself (or central bank like the Fed if it is a separate entity) is only part of all money and money derivatives used as money in the economy...

There is a country that devalued their currency and if you have read and heard the news that India devalued some of their paper money.
