Kinda excited with Durant's first game vs OKC, like how the fans would burn him.  Grin Grin Grin
The fans are going to burn him for what he has done but he also has done some great things for OKC so lets not forget that.
He has been so close a couple times to win the NBA finals but he was not able to do it.
That is right, they owe something big to Durant and they should pay respect on that, Durant has been a great help to make the thunder popular in the world but this time Durant is on a  mission and want to prove something in himself that great players deserve championship.

There's no much movement in the West with a formation of super team so I think Thunders will make it to the playoffs even at the rank 8th.

Also there's are times when Durant is out of the game and sometimes off night and Westbrook do the monster performance instead.

I agree. And holding 8th spot in the West is kinda difficult only for those West teams that don't even have a superstar.

The case is different in terms of OKC. Im really sure they will make it to the top 8 with their current rosters.
OKC could even go up higher than the 8th seed, if they could find a good combination that will give them solid offense and a decent defense. On the offensive end, they have Westbrook and Oladipo to carry most of the load, with Enes Kanter to support them. On the defensive end, they have Steven Adams who will serve as the anchor. With a lot of experience on them being in the playoffs, I think they can find ways to squeeze in all the way to 5th or 6th spot.

For now, its hard to predict if they can make the playoffs because they are in the west. But knowing Westbrook, I think he will dominate this season and if the new players adjusted quickly to westbrook, they will be good.
I think a lot of the other players are going to step up, knowing that they can now be the next superstar beside Russell Westbrook. This is a different scenario when Durant got injured for the most part of a season, because there was a chance that he could come back. Now, the other players can really show how they can make OKC fill the big void created by K.D.s departure.

Your right, they should move on on Durant. Durant is not the first player to leave his first team in the NBA. OKC has still potential to be a great team. I'm sure they will build a great team around Westbrook.

Remember when LBJ left Cleveland for Miami way back then? Even if Lebron got them to the 2007 finals when he left they burned his jersey to the ground. I kinda wanna see that kind of drama with Durant again.  Grin

The only concern here is the absence of Westbrook. He must maintained it's healthy status and try to avoid injuries which is unexpected because OKC has terrible stats without Durant and Westbrook alone on the floor.

we really cant say yet since the are not seeing the teams yet but as for making it to the playoffs theres still big chance for okc even durant already leave them the team have newcomers and we can expect some new name to step out just needed for westbrook to lead them up.

Im not with the point of "we can't really say", just stating some wild facts that OKC can do better performance even without Durant on the floor. If we tried to watch some of their games without Durant and some key players, they can able to cope up with their opponent with only Westbrook as the main cager on the floor. Those new acquiring players has a great performance too.

But then let's see what will be the output of this team.

Well, the possibility is their, but I doubt if they can ever win in the first round. It is a different games in playoffs because a team with many veterans and superstars has a bigger chance to succeed, and westbrook is the only one in thunder.

Yes the point is only entering the playoffs and that is quite achievable.

A doubt for me if they can make it to second round of the playoffs.

If you look at the brighter picture, I see it's not that hard to predict that OKC will landed on the playoffs. OKC is not only Durant. Just because Durant left, OKC will be nothing and even can't make it to top 8 in the West? Of course no.

A doubt for me if they can make it to second round of the playoffs.
well i just hope for the best as i keep looking forward for westbrook to show more even without durant beside him westbrook is a timebomb and ready to explode when he enters the court if those new comers can perform their position i guess okc still have better chance to enter the first round and continuing the good performances and healthy game from westbrook will add some chances as well to move forward, lets hope for this team which considered as of now for me as a underdog since one of the franchise player has been traded.

Will cut the quoted post...

Anyways based on my backread, I think OKC can still go into top 8 even at rank 8th in the West. There are teams in the West that make it to top 8 although there are no much superstar in the team. If you look at NBA playoffs history, there are questioned teams that able to make it to the top 8.

And we all know OKC is not weak in terms of the remaining roster. The good thing here is, Westbrook now having a major role unlike when Durant still in this team. Clutch, plays, command etc. , all of this will be now handed by Westbrook on the floor.

I might agree. I too believe that Thunders will able to make to the playoffs with their new lineups and Russel Westbrook as their team captain but it's really a hard work for them to breach the second round of the playoffs.

If they able to make it on the playoffs, let's say at the rank of 7th and 8th, they will faced the 1st or 2nd seed which is I think Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs as a good close candidate.

Well that is just an example. Whatever teams that will clinched the top 2 of the West is really a monster team for the current Thunders rosters.

That will be close scenario for OKC. Whatever the teams that will take the 1st and 2nd seed will surely crash the OKC in the first round of playoffs.

Still a great achievement for Russel Westbrook that he managed to bring his team into playoffs and much better if they will give the 1st or 2nd seed a good and close match like 4-3 or 4-2 as final standing.

OKC still has a solid roster. I don't think they finish 7 or 8.

I think they could easily be fighting for a 4-5 seed with the talent and
big men they have. Granted replacing Durant sucks but the rest of the
roster is solid.

When they had Durant, They where one of my top 3 seeds overall IMO, They had so much talent with KD and RW that they should at least be considered a top competitor for the championship, I don't think they lost everything with KD going to GSW though, westbrook could carry the team from here and forward. Although it wouldn't be possible to replace Durant with a player in the same league..

Yes Thunders is still Thunders even without Durant. But we are talking of the West teams here.

I see odds for reaching 4th or 5th spot for OKC is really low. Better at 6th to 8th spot.

Thunders defense on the board has been minimized since they acquired small players from Magic in exchange to Ibaka.

Hopefully Donovan will make some good mix on the boards to fill the gap.

I think OKC lost a good player to their team. KD is one of the contributor to the team for the last season on why they reached their nearly to finals.

And I don't think Westbrook is going to carry the whole team, but for me I will going to cheer for GSW today and they are on my list too.

Even though we can still consider the roster of OKC as a solid team.

If the other way happen like westbrook left the OKC, then maybe I can say that they have a chance to be in the playoffs this season. Durant has the kind of leadership that is more matured the westbrook and the way westbrook play, he is so predictable and only uses his athleticism.

In another news, I read that Derrick Rose is still among the highest paid endorsers of the NBA taking home $14 million. He belongs in the top 5 earners from endorsement deals with various companies. Among the names included in the list are all high profile athletes like James Harden, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and of course leading all NBA players in endorsement earnings, none other than Lebron James.

There used to be a time when Derrick Rose was really awesome, even to a point that he could become the new face of the NBA. But those injuries come one after the other and reduced him to a somewhat ordinary player. If he can find his old groove back and put his injuries behind him, he could regain the old form that made him really dangerous in his first few years in the NBA.

How about Stephen Curry, I think you forget to mentioned stephen curry, I believe he promotes under armour and I think he is also receiving a good endorsement fee.
