One can argue from that definition that you're not playing a game, you're betting on a game.

But from that bet, you're either losing money or winning money, so still, it is called gambling. No matter whether you play that game or not but when you bet on the individual match where you got a chance of losing or making money than it is gambling.

Yes in sports betting we need the small skill set. If we have that much knowledge, then it is easy to make money in sports betting. To me too, it is pure gambling so far you it invloves a situation where you have to put your resources on the line to get a certain return in excess of what you initially put into it then it is gambling coupled with the risk you have to take to get that return then I conclude it is no different than gambling.
