Again, full disclosure, I'm not participating in the airdrop via any accounts, but curious as to what deters users from taking advantage of the airdrops via say a dozen-plus monikers, of which all they control? I can easily envision a person earning a potential hundreds of dollars sans any real effort.
This is a fair concern. There are a number of verification steps involved - hence the reason why the project had to push back the invitation e-mails being sent out. Every application receives individual attention. Most platforms today show an account creation date, and an application is more likely to be rejected if it's clear that the moniker that signed up cannot be linked to the URL submitted. This is why it is encouraged participants sign up with an online presence of some sort. There are also technical checks in place to avoid gaming the initiative. No system is going to be perfect, but reasonable steps can be taken to make it as inclusive and fair as possible.

Just to let everyone know, airdrop invitation e-mails will start going out January 8th, 2016. They'll continue being sent out over the weekend and early next week. Airdrop applications will continue being accepted until January 18th, 2016, and invitation e-mails will continue until prior to mainnet launch. The project has been swamped with interest and every application gets individual attention, so there will be more information about mainnet launch as well. The current anticipation is a delay of one week, which is unfortunate, but it's important to give all the applications proper attention and not leave people behind. There are some really talented people who have signed up to join the Decred network and community. It's humbling to think there are so many high calibre individuals who want to explore technology together to build on what Decred is putting forward. You're thanked from the bottom of the hearts of those who have built it up to this point, and it's going to be an honour to work together and see where the wind in our sails takes us. And so it begins ... very excited to see DCR grow into something we can ALL really be proud of as crypto supporters!

Great to see people are starting to receive invitations and generating their addresses! The e-mails will keep flowing. Make sure you check your spam folder if you haven't whitelisted decred.org. There is also a dedicated support thread that just opened to help guide others through the process. Decred has an international community, so if you notice anything in the language-specific threads about getting help with the process, please help others where you can. You can also post here and people will help you if you have trouble.

One question: while there are so many tools to create bitcoin-type addresses on the client side of a browser, why do we need to download an address generator?
The belief is that doing something this sensitive in a browser is irresponsible and insecure on the project's part - it would be endangering users. Whilst no system is perfect, asking you to explicitly write down a seed and store it somewhere safe is the closest we can get to holding up the interests of users' security when interacting with a broad userbase - given that it will be used to generate your wallet in the future. This is not to belittle other approaches taken, the belief is just that things in a browser should never be assumed to be secure and it's encouraged that people move sensitive things out of it if at all possible. It's the easiest balance the project could strike, given that they're binaries, between user-friendliness and security (source code is provided too for the security conscious).

Time to go and claim my key Theres plenty of time to go till the 18th so people can still get in if they are interested. The way they chose to give the coins out was the best what they could do for now im sure.

Awesome guys, I have received the link!
I however have 3 questions:
1. Are we only allowed to store in "My documents" or can it be "My crypto" or etc, and is there a Decred Appdata folder to store the blockchain?
2. Are we only allowed one address or can we create more?
3. Regarding first question, if it can be stored in any folder, what stops people from having 5-15 wallets on a single computer inside different folders if there is no hypothetical appdata?

I would answer if I could, but I have no experience with Windows. Unfortunately, all the devs who tested the process on Windows are asleep. Glad it worked out though! There'll be detailed instructions at every step for all major operating systems, so hopefully there won't be any bumps.
