Agree! You need to be convinced about the success of Bitcoin and/or your investment in the coin. Let others think what they want.
There are enough examples in history when people were first laughing and regreted afterwards.

Let people think what they want to..
You shouldn't care what they think.. if u believe in it.. then go for it and wait for the moment you will be laughing Smiley

I have been telling my work colleagues about bitcoin now for about 3 years and they still think its a big joke.  I dont care because i believe that some day i will be the one Laughing......  I think alot of it is people dont like things they dont understand and would rather make fun off it.

So was just wondering has anyone else on here had similar experiences and how did you deal with it?   Wink

same as my colleagues!

they don't believe in "btc environment" or in algorithm … they classify all as a "drug coin" "internet coin" nothing that could be good for their life.

Only some girl seems appreciate the concept of the ecurrencies but I think they don't appreciate only this Smiley

The skepticism is very recongnizable; vast majority of the people I know regard Bitcoin as dangerous, some odd thing on the WWW, or are completely unaware about crypto. And I'm not only talking about older, more traditional people but also highly educated folks in their 20's and 30's, owning the latest smartphones and addicted to social media, but still (very) reserved about crypto.

Actually I am surprised, even after so many years, bitcoin hasnt seen major breakthroughs in adoption. It always seems like it get popular for awhile then fizzles out. Even amongst the techy people
That's a real bitcoin problem, maybe people still scaring about bitcoin issue or the fluctuation price of bitcoin maybe..

IMO, the problem is that there is really no need for an average Joe to use bitcoin. People dont see a how would their life get easier and better with bitcoin.

People get salaries in fiat, do taxes in fiat, pay mortgages and rents in fiat, buy groceries in fiat, pay online with credit cards and paypal where they get instant confirmation instead of 10 min, etc.

And sure you can find few individuals who do these things in bitcoin only, anddont mind waiting 10 m or more for confirmations of transactions. But these are exceptions.

Then, we are as the first adopter of bitcoin should leading a people to use bitcoin how their life will be easy with bitcoin.

But the real challenge is making them to mind on bitcoin ecosystem. I made them to think by explaining the core financial concepts of bitcoin in our conference hall just a a friends get together. Adopting or neglecting is their own wish, but I made them to keep on asking me some doubts and they are following bitcoin keenly.

Yes, when the future price of bitcoins are not fascinating, then the core concepts of bitcoin like capped supply and how it will replace Paypal or western union or even dollars may make some people to rethink their opinion on bitcoin. Making them to think about bitcoin must be a big achievement than giving up our motivation.

Yes, a lot of people, even smart and economically inclined, do not understand bitcoin or what it means and its very interesting to me. I think its something more computer-savvy people understand. They like the rest of humanity will be forced to understand it to some extent when it becomes economically favorable for them to use it. Right now it is still very small.

I would mention it to them. I would use free or low-cost investment ways to do this. A low-er cost way than to just

buy btc directly. Mining altcoin then converting to btc is a longer, but cheaper way to go about it. This is what I do.

If they join here, I would tell them to learn as much as they can and after they get to Member level, they can then go

for a signature campaign for more btc.

I once introduced bitcoin to my sister, she just said, "too complicated".  End of discussion. Never tried again ever since. If ever they realize bitcoin's value, it would not be from me. Maybe from people more capable of explaining it to them or maybe google.

That's usually story. Using bitcoin is just too complex at the moment for average people. Most people are happy with fiat as they get their salaries in fiat, pay rents and mortgages with fiat, pay for groceries and fuel with fiat, and have no time to waste with btc<->fiat exchanges, 10 minute confirmation times, installing and learning how to use bitcoin software.

That is a very good analogy. In 5-10 years, our relatives, friends and colleagues will think they have missed the boat.

I have been engaged in 'stupid conversation' once with my friend who found about Bitcoin before me brought me here.
I asked a lot of 'stupid' questions back then - but I become fond of the cyptocurrency idea ever since.

To be honest I dont want to discuss bitcoin with my family, colleages and acquintances until and unless I myself have understood about it like a pro. There's no point in introducing something to someone and leaving them on a mercy of Google to find answers to there questions.I want to get as much knowledge of bitcoin as I can before discussing about it with anyone so that I can answer there questions

I like the way you commented on this thread man!!

Stop telling them, keep your knowlegde to yourself for now. Because in time to come they will come to you themselve to find out more about the soul-call bitcoins.

What about you? how did you came to know about bitcoins?
Did you just accept the use of bitcoins instantly and push ahead to create wallet? Certainly, not.

I remember, going through pages of a magazine in a local library that explained on "how anyone can become a millionaire with one the fastest growing VIrtual Currency."

I spent time browsing through the pages of this book, At the end i said to myself "RUBBISH" same day i went on the internet to search for term "bitcoins"    every information i got made no meaning to me until 1-2 year's later.

Although, i regreted for not have paid perculiar attention to bitcoins in the first place. You see why you need not to blame your friend's,family or colleague at work.

Because their attention now is channel toward's something else So, for now it will make no sense to them just like buying stuff from the internet make no meaning to most people 10-year's ago.

Everybody has their own time & moment when they choose to accept things.

Thank For Coming Up with such discussion

without even using the word bitcoin. i bet atleast 50% of work colleagues laugh when someone says they invest in anything. ive seen people say its foolis to invest in microsoft because linux/apple is better. then say its foolish to invest in apple because samsung/android is better.

not based on logical investment criteria, but based on user perceptions of the products.

so even if you show video's of the canada senate loving bitcoin, video's and media stories from bloomberg showing many legit companies investing in bitcoin. even showing the picture of the UK's treasury minister buying bitcoin. many people will only think about bitcoins lack of being able to buy toilet roll in 3 seconds at the local 7eleven.

I think people need to get a true definition out before the situation gets any worse, see a form of investment and money are two different things, think stock in a company vs cash in hand. You can't use shares in walmart or @ an ice=cream stand. This is the heart of the blocksize debate , @ 1 Mb it becomes an expensive investment vehicle, that cannot be viably used for everyday commerce.

I'd rather see Bitcoin traded in money markets , rather than stock exchanges.
