I'm using an online wallet because it's more convenient in small and fast transactions, If I have some for cold storage though I think an offline wallet or paper wallet would be a decent choice.
yeah I prefer online wallet. more flexible. if one day we do not carry the gadget. we do not need to worry. because we are using an online wallet. we can open it anywhere
different from a desktop purse or wallet ofline

I use a mixture - I have some paper wallets stored in a safe

I have a few bitcoin on my main computer using elctrum wallet

I have .4 ish bitcoins on my Iphone

I have almost a bitcoin on blockchain.info

I figure its good to spread it around (it helps me sleep safer at night)

超级M M M是个很好的平台,每天只要做很简单任务,一个月就有百分之100的利息。真的太棒了。

lately I never use bitcoin I get, I just put it in two different wallets, one in blockchain and the other in c-CEX, I hope it will always be safe  Smiley

Online wallets like block chain or coinbase are safe only but still hackers are scamming in online wallets. Better you would go ahead with offline wallets, paper or cold storage to keep it safe.

any wallet that is connected to internet or online wallets are just for receiving bitcoin and spending them in i want to buy something or gamble a little bit. but the main bitcoin amount should go in my cold storage wallet in order to keep them safe.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

That is the thing i know online wallets can be unsafe but i have had a small amount in blockchain.info since i started here. I say small but we are talking a couple of btc. If you have just a small amount then as you say they are safe enough. When you get to 5 and above btc that is when send to cold storage just to be sure. If you have good security and dont surf and download from dodgy sites all will be ok. I only leave on exchanges what i could lose, they could run at anytime Sad

I keep a small amount at coinbase. That makes them easy to access if I am not at home.

I keep a larger but still small amount in the bitcoin-core QT wallet. That makes them easy to access when I am home.

The bulk I keep in cold addresses - pass phrase to create private key is written down and stored in safe location, salt is backed up in different location, both salt and pass phrase are needed to create the private key. That's my long term storage, savings account equivalent.

If you maintain a good Internet security routine on your devices I think it's not dangerous to hold your stash in online wallets. I have tested several wallets and nothing bad happened like losing coins or getting hacked.

Many people has used online wallet to store their bitcoin and it is safety enough. But there's ever some scam with online wallet which stored a lot of bitcoin. For stay away from this cyber crime, we should mix our bitcoin to many wallet. It will better than gathered all of your bitcoin into one wallet Wink

I own less than a bitcoin so I'm storing that amount online in blockchain.info and some in a PC wallet called electrum, however if it's something more like 4-5 BTC I think it would be more appropriate to store it in a USB or hardware wallet, also storing in a paper wallet is very decent for big amounts.

As the provabial saying goes 'don't keep al eggs in one basket', I prefer keeping bitcoins in different forms. A desktop wallet seems safer for me, an online wallet for easy transactions and different exchanges just in case I need some fiat.

I store it in a computer, I have about a bitcoin and I think computer storage is OK with an amount like that, people with thousands of bitcoins should of course secure it in a much better way.

If you maintain a good Internet security routine on your devices I think it's not dangerous to hold your stash in online wallets. I have tested several wallets and nothing bad happened like losing coins or getting hacked.

The problem with online wallets is:

  • You trust THEY have good security
  • You trust THEY have honest employees
  • You trust THEY have the bitcoins needed to back all the value deposited

That's an awful lot of trust, and a lot of on-line wallets have gone belly-up in the past.

That is why only a small amount should be kept them, so that in the event of a tragedy, you only lose a little.
