It is unfortunately. However, the US dollar is also being occupied for illegal activity. Anything that has to do with purchasing products and services is something that can be utilized to do illegal work. Bitcoin isn't to blame.

That's true, but us dollar is controlled by banks and government. They can print it at will, cheat with it at will, loan dollars which they dont have, etc.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, is not controlled by banks nor governments. They cant print it, they can borrow bitcoin which they dont have, etc. Thus cryptocurrencies are very inconvenient for banks and governments, as they give power to ppl, and take it from banks and governments. Thus, they do everything they can do to stop bitcoin wider adaptation. The easy thing is just to scare ppl that only criminals use cryptocurrencies, or that it is some sort of scam, etc.

I see more and more acrticles of bitcoin being used for illegal activities
will this hurt bitcoin in the long run , will governments ban this just like they started to do wih paying in cash for some services
to harden the use of illegal , and money laundering
Of course people are using it for illegal reasons. But so is fiat. This won't really hurt bitcoin and maybe even increase the price a bit.

Bitcoin is very easy to track. You can see the money movement in the block chain. It is much easier to trace than cash.

I think they use it before.

I think it often and widely used.

I like what Andreas Antonopoulous said in one of his latest speeches, he basically said that something is not money unless you can buy drugs with it, and I think it's a pretty spot on definition, if something cannot be used for that then it's just not money, it's a requirement.

True, not only bitcoin used for illegal activity, this is not the fault of bitcoin. I think it is fair when bitcoin use by criminals, fiat money also was used by criminals, so there is nothing wrong

Of course it is being used in illegal and some criminal activity because criminals are using it like everyone else, in the same way fiat and regular currencies are being used in illegal activities as well.

End of the day anything can be illegal if they want to crack down on us for breathing to much.
Its up to the public to lash back and say this is not happening.

Pretty sure if there's any "lashing back," it won't be from bitcoin enthusiasts. Heck, I've been watching folks here get savaged over and over by various bitcoin "entrepreneurs" -- Brewster, Friedcat, Ukyo, Pirate, Karples, and on and on and on...
Sum total of getback?

I think yes it is being used for criminal activities, may be drugs or converting black money to white, and it is also used for gambling, which is illegal too, people will use each and every currency which holds value for illegal activities.

I read about these articles almost everyday online and each has their own version to put down bitcoins. Coindesk articles are more helpful and mostly positive. They also predicted bitcoins to increase after halving while other articles gave us a negative report. It's good to concentrate on coindesk articles more.

Yeah, because of anonymity some criminals prefer to use bitcoin for their illegal transaction, I also have heard that in france attack some criminals have used bitcoin for buying weapons, that is a threatening news for bitcon, so I think the anonymity of bitcoin must have to be finished.
It will increase the supporters of bitcoin to make it more stronger currency
