Yes, we might not see it, as we cannot see who is using bitcoin, but for sure there are people who are using bitcoin like money to fund their illegal activity...maybe some people are keeping their money asset as bitcoin to make sure that government won't see it... but definitely it won't hurt bitcoin...

Bitcoin is freedom, freedom of financial activities, so even if someone uses it illegally it wont be a problem at all as no one would get affected from that not even bitcoin itself, it depends on people how they use something, because every single thing in the world can be used for good and bad both.

I wish BTC is not used for illegal activities though it is a currency. Legal and illegal activities require money. It depends on who uses the coins. Lets utilize the bitcoins only for good purposes as it was created to benefit all and lets bring more fame and name to bitcoins and its founders.
Such kind of question should to be in politic section I think. Bitcoin is just money as dollar and euro. Therrorists are making their things and wars with dollars, so what stops them to use Bitcoins as well. In bitcoins huge transaktions are not visible for govenments and world security, so I think Bitcoin it's perfect currency to use it as ever someone wish, even illegle.

This is one of the problems faced by bitcoins. It is easily susceptible to evil motives. People can use Bitcoins as one of the vessels for money laundering.

With the anonymous factor and descentralized factor? I believe bitcoin was created for ilegal propouses or at least a lot of transactions are linked with something ilegal, we can't stop it and that's why bitcoin have this price.
What are you talking about? Bitcoin was not created to conduct illegal activities, bitcoin was created so we could get our power back and away from governments and banks that have monopolized money.

I don't think the cyber crime watch in your country will ever try to trace you. For I know most of them are just monitoring those online gambling who uses your local currency.

So you don't have to worry about it if someone will just knock on your door calling your name and ip address and tells your 'under arrest'.

Because you are not doing anything that is against the law.

I think the players look always safe online gambling, there was never any legal authority dared to arrest a perpetrator online gambling. For evidence of gambling games online has never been seen. Therefore, in the internet world. I am here often see their own activity gamblers every day coming to the internet rental. but I have never seen gamblers arrested.

Well, what he is doing certainly is against the law. But so is (I'm assuming) pirating. You are right that nobody is going to come and knock on his door- it's much too minor a misdemeanor to assign resources to.

Lol yeah it could be one of them. in some countries, including illegal gambling and you can gamble with ease using bitcoin, certainly an outsider would say that bitcoin is used for illegal activities

It will depends if your government banned gambling online and in physical casinos or in any kind of gambling, authorities will arrest you in your country of course. And because of that people in your country will say that bitcoin is used for illegal activities specially in gambling.

And to OP of course it does, bitcoin is a kind of currency, and all currency can use in any illegal activities.

They do ban gambling actually but because of bitcoin there's no way they can control us and they would not know that we are gambling. That's the benefits of using bitcoin if you are a gambler because you have all the way to enjoy as with bitcoin it is very fast and you can gamble anytime you want.

It is very possible to be use since its featured anonymuos transaction most people that deal with illegal activities will love to use things like this to hide thier identity and just like a normal currency its been easy for them to make transaction any place that have knowledge about it.

It is true that bitcoin can be used for illegal activities. The transactions in bitcoin can be traced to the origin and dealing in bitcoin is so easy. You don't have to verify your identity to send or receive bitcoin. Criminals feel happy with such features of bitcoin and will continue going on with their illegal activities.

of course bitcoin is used extensively for doing illegal trading because it's partially anonymous which help sender and receiver to stay behind the wall and no one knows who transfered money to whom. other people could only know that some amount of bitcoin is transferred for one address to another.

It's not 'extremely' used. That idea gives us, the Bitcoiners a bad look in others eyes because Bitcoin's reputation simply went down from these kinds of ideas. It's used just like the dollar or the euro or any other currency is in illegal activities. The criminals may prefer using anonymous currencies but trust me, Bitcoin isn't always their best option.

I see more and more acrticles of bitcoin being used for illegal activities
will this hurt bitcoin in the long run , will governments ban this just like they started to do wih paying in cash for some services
to harden the use of illegal , and money laundering

Maybe some people who are greedy they can do it freely to use it for illegal matters. And of course yes, this things can hurt and affect bitcoin in some other aspect because of their wrong deeds.

That depends, I would not use that kind of a blanket statement 'you are not doing anything against the law because you're gambling in a different currency'

I think most countries would actually take legal action against someone who's gambling on an unregulated site, IF they had the means to catch them easily.

Exactly, the anonymity factor on one side is an advantage for bitcoin users as they can keep their money safe without letting anyone know about them, but it is also a disadvantage for the community as it can be easily used for illegal activities as no one can trace it, but though it is used for illegal things it still wont effect bitcoin itself.

I really think that your thread really meant nothing because bitcoin is a currency and just like other currency like dollar or other fiat money that are mostly involve in illegal transaction and can be involve in some illegal organization bitcoin is just the same if apply to some illegal activities that is why it is really common sense on what would people do with their bitcoin.
