I am stuck with this coin. My wallet is the latest version 0.8.7.2 and I am staking this coin since months. Network is up, full synced and transactions get confirmed. But they do not reach livecoin / coinexchange. I noticed that my wallet is at block 716825 while livecoin is at 728860.
How do I fix that ? I don't want to loose my coins.
Was there a hard fork ? I assume we have TWO espers network right now.

you're on a wrong chain, all those 'found' blocks or stakes will dissapear when you'll back to real blockchain . all your coins recieved,mined/staked before nov,1 will be fine imo. get a wallet backup with last wallet+blockchain snapshot+nodelist to get back into Espers Chain

Okay this is really ugly right now. I downloaded the snapshoot image (thanks tekna) and setup a second machine with the old wallet file. Now i have two computers:
1) Block High 716871, 18 connections, 35 million coins (in fakt not working)
2) Block High 728914, 6 connections, 32 million coins (01.nov 2017)
Both are staking and in sync. I guess machine #2 is connected to the network assumed to be the actual one.
What a crap coin ! We have 2 networks now and if a new user runs the wallet they might connect to network number one and all transactions from or to an exchange will get lost. I only lost 2x 100 coins in a test transaction.
Thats the reason why people will just buy ripple.

Why do you need the snapshot?
Could you simply open the wallet and wait for it to sync, if you never used it before?
This is absolutely the right question. Personally I would recommend to NOT use the bootstrap, but sync from scratch. It will take about 2 days straight, you can shut down your PC in between and continue syncing the next day. The reason for this recommendation is that multiple people had problems syncing from scratch (including me), and while using a blockchain snapshot might be a way to get things working, it should not be mandatory! Because otherwise we've essentially ignored the basic advantage of using a blockchain, which is an (almost) trustless P2P setup. If more people would try syncing from scratch and report about their success or failure (e.g. with debug.log output), this will help debugging a problem (in case it actually is a problem) that should be taken care of more than it is right now. Always telling people to use the bootstrap is not a good approach to fix problems like those we are currently facing. If network and chain splits happen, this needs to be addressed on the software level IMO. As for sending coins from or to exchanges, here is a simple advice for you: Don't make transactions while there are problems on the network, period.

The second one is the right one and you didn't lose money, it's time to rescan the chain at this point. Please follow the rescan steps as I wrote in the first message and let me know. Unfortunately that mess has occurred, it can happen in a experimental chain, but I am personally taking care of the situation cause I believe in this project.

With network #2 everything is all right. As a long term hodler I "lost" 3 millions over the past 2 month but thats okay. I made a second test transaction of 120 coins to coinexchange / livecoin and this worked just fine. Arrived.
But how do you kill the first, now assumed wrong network ? It is stable and people running espers the first time might connect to this chain. And normally endusers do not make a test transaction. They will just buy a bucket of coins at an exchange and send it home. I don't think coinexchange and livecoin find this to be a funny thing, mean customers complaining about lost coins in the espers network.
Do you think the customer service will say something like: dear wanna be bag holder, espers has two chains now, didn't you know that ? Get lost and connect to the right chain next time ?
I don't think so. They will just pause withdraws until the situation is clear.

With the way the market is acting right now (Everybody searching for the "low cap moon mission" Espers fits in nicely. It's not a huge project, but it's most definitely working it's way up. A good buy and hold for sure. Will become a moonshot if the Dev's really nail the roadmap.

(...) I would recommend to NOT use the bootstrap, but sync from scratch. (...) (...) If more people would try syncing from scratch and report about their success or failure (e.g. with debug.log output), this will help debugging a problem (...) Allow me to differ on that one. While it is absolutely true that blockchain should be pure, and load organically on all machines, blockchains get corrupt and this requires a bit of hardcoded fixes. We can't seem to be able to sync organically, so while the devs fix this problem the show must go on. This is where bootstraps are needed.
