OK I don't get it....
I stumbled on this coin and it's price.  WOA!  Tongue

So you can mine it but you get no reward?
Can you make anything with this coin other than buying it?

I read a little here but it's confusing compared to other alt-coins.

So what really is this?  And the purpose of installing a wallet?

Thanks,
Bob

Hey, Bob. Correct: you can 'mine' it but there's no reward.

Say what?

Well, the Bottom Line Controversy in cryptos -- this is my opinion, by the way -- is POW versus POS. 42-coin is a veeeery interesting experiment in getting the best of both worlds.

'Can you make anything with this coin other than buying it?' Heck yeh. You can trade it. We will delight in helping you learn how.

[Second draft] Check Bob's post history: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1358760;sa=showPosts   Got skills.

So, why run a wallet? The same as any other crypto: to store your holdings, and to run the network (which is what us old-school crypto geeks do . . . ).
Remember that Bitcoin is still beta software. Don't put all of your money into BTC!

Check again, should be ok now. There was a block delay in the network.

Still far from panic, me; but an ANN thread exists to provide information.

Put in a withdrawal. Will provide detail later today.

EDIT: Okay, waaaaay short of panic; but no, my withdrawal hasn't come through in six hours.

'The figures tell the story – a year ago Cryptopia had 30,000 users, rising to 1 million in December 2017.

After the first week of January, the number of users hit 1.4 million, causing difficulties in managing the site and requiring suspension of some trading and registrations.

Dawson said staff were working overtime to raise levels of service, more people were being hired, and the company was developing processes as quickly as possible to cope with the demand.'

Hey, Than! IMHO, all we gotta do is keep cool heads.

We can always trade in-house. (Tee hee, I've mentioned this before.). We have Livecoin -- and don't forget there's an ETH-42 trading-pair there that's not listed on Coinmarketcap. There's Trade Satoshi, which I haven't used -- can anyone give us a report on it?

Nova exchange we gotta assume is a ways away yet.

I do have 0.00042111 42 Coin on Cryptopia since December 2017.  Really like the project and don't want to lose my 42 coins, even that little amount.  Is Cryptopia wallet on the new chain? What should i do with my 42 ?  Huh

Hello, Imy. Welcome!   Cryptopia is surely running the new chain.

Don't worry. Sit tight. Pop in here for news. I've been trading on Cryptopia since it opened. They have occasional glitches -- and don't forget that practically every crypto exchange in the world is struggling with the admin of the flood of newcomers -- but they are IMHO a solid exchange.

Me just trying a withdrawal now. Details to follow.

EDIT

Bulletin on Cryptopia

One: Don't Panic!

Two: my withdrawal came through.

Three: my guys and I have been trading on Topia since it opened. They have been slack on several occasions, but concerns of actual solvency/hacks have not been raised.

Four: me following the issue closely.

EDIT EDIT: My XJO withdrawal, mentioned above, has come through. Colleagues on another Topia altcoin have had two withdrawals completed in the last twenty-four hours. And I began the withdrawal of another altcoin just a minute ago. Will post details.

I found today a wallet of 42 coin with 0.0036 42s inside, which I mined back in the days and I have totally forgotten in the meanwhile. I just learned about this new chain and swap. Is it too late?

I would PM Lasergun, but I think it is indeed too late.

For those who missed the process but still very want to swap their old coins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1502028.msg17027381#msg17027381.

Tremendous effort on your part, Laser. Every old-42-Coiner you assist is a potential noo-42-coiner.

where can I read about bounty?

Hey, Burton. I don't think we have any bounty programmes at present.

I see that the 42-Coin thread here is your very first post ever on Bitcointalk. Welcome.

Livecoin is pressing for Verification updates by March 28th. After that, unverified customers won't be able to submit Support Tickets. I will have a crack at it in a couple of days. (Took two goes for Bittrex to get it right for me, but the process seems similar.)

EDIT: still working on my Verification on Livecoin. Still watching Nova.
