Everything should be back up. I had to bring one of the CCE VPS down to do some server maintenance.

I waited until late-night on a weekend to cause as little disruption as possible, but maintenance still needs to get done.

I hate to see what happens when I need to bring server 1 down. Server 1 is the larger in terms of coins (10)  Cheesy

Megacoin still not listed. Any word on that?
Is there a news/twitter feed for announcements or is this thread the place to keep an eye on?

Where did Digitalcoin go?  Nothing wrong with the coin, but it disappeared from your site.

You need to realize that when you randomly remove coins from your chart it impacts other services.  When you provide an API that many have come to rely on, it needs to be stable.

EDIT: I realize this may be because Crypto Coin Explorer's DGC explorer is down, but it would be handy if your API / website cached the last "good" data for a coin and included a note/flag that it was not up to date. I've come to rely heavily on your API and when a coin disappears it can really throw things off balance.

Well, I used to cache the last balance (actually still do), BUT the issue became that my numbers would instantly become incorrect when the BE is down and people would complain about hat.  So it is a balance of keeping up wrong numbers or stop reporting.  I'd think that it is better to not report an erroneous number.  I may have the API have an option to report cached, if that helps as it is a minor code change to keep old data.

That being said, I am working in some redundancy with the blockchain explorers - as the other services know - still a bit hard to work in network redundancy when costs are all mine Smiley

No - it is automatic when the public block explorer associated with the coin goes down.  It is down (see http://blockexplorer.coinworld.us:7750/chain/MegaCoin/q/getblockcount).  Is there another public blockexplorer?

May take a few minutes, but Megacoin numbers are now back.

I don't know. I wonder if coinwarz is reporting cached info.

They might be reporting from the daemon directly.

BTW - I do realize it and put a lot of effort into this free service to make it stable.  I have to rely on other services to a degree to keep my costs down, and I apologize for that.  However, please realize that this is free and will continue to be free.  I have no staff and no support.  I wish I could have all of that, but that would mean charging, which I never plan on doing.  While I understand your frustration, statements like this make me regret even doing this site.

Hey Sal,

can you grab the stats for bitbar from http://www.bitbar.info/stats/bitbar_json.txt (or http://www.bitbar.info/stats/index.php)
Right now it just shows ? ? ?

Also, could you kindly update it , so then when data is refreshed, it re-sorts accoridng to the user's last sort?

Thanks

Done as to the first part - looking into the second.

Hi, Sal002
Your JSON API is just what I was looking for!
I plan to implement miner profitability grouping in the next version of my Bitcoin Miners in Tray GUI and was looking for a convenient place to read profitability info from. I came across you site in a round-about way through dustcoin's thread Smiley
Could you, please, tell me what is the difference between "ratio" and "adjustedratio" in the JSON object?
I'll send you a donation once I have implemented miner profitability grouping in my program.

Adjusted profitability is the profitability adjusted for what I anticipate will be stales (as compared to the base currency).  From some testing, faster block coins have more stales, so this is an attempt to smooth this out.

Hey sal, how exactly is profitability adjusted? I assume there's no way to determine the actual % stales in a network right? So do you just have some sort of formula based on network hashrate, block targets etc.?

Also, is the adjustment 'factor' static for each currency, or will it also adjust to increases in hashrate for example?

Thanks for the clarification. I'll just go with "ratio" and allow users to specify their own bias relative to BTC.

Hm, noticed a while back that suddenly the list of coins was becoming shorter and shorter (down to 5 was what I saw), then starting growing again, but right now I still see NVC and BTB missing. Is/was this intentional, or will they show back up?
Can we expect to see Bytecoin again, now that it is tradeable at cryptsy?

Thanks!

Looks like dreameatchers block explorers are down, so that is why BtB and NVC are missing.  Bytecoin's block explorer is also down.

I guess this is what I get when I decide to sleep in one mourning.

The traffic and I/O pattern just before CCE server 1 went down follows the pattern that happens during an attack.

Add to the list of things to add during the explorer rewrite   Cheesy

Anyway, all the explorers are back up.

Are you going to be implementing anything based on volume.

Currently BitGem is a great example of a coin that is sitting on the top which is great to know. What is being hidden is that the calculations are based on practically minimal volume.

Is there anyway you could sort the coins into three categories of high volume mid volume low volume? Otherwise you're just encouraging people to mess with your charts by making these pump/dumps and shooting to the top for publicity. I think a top spot should be earned.
