In my opinion you definitely will need elements of both. Even if you have excellent skill when you trade there is a risk of another whale playing against you that can move the market the opposite direction that you want it to move.

Trading is a bit like gambling, just with smaller risks.

I agree, to be able to get some profit you must have that both. you need skills to know what you should do and luck to make it possible to happen.

but i guess the thing that have most effect most of the times is just skills
luck only come randomly to you
while skills always there in every session you trade

Well, your skills will not ensure you that you'll make profit all the time but it gives you a confidence that in the long run you will be successful. Successful in the sense that you will be able to be profitable in trading, put in your mind and in your heart that everyday is a learning experience and the more time and effort you devote, you will be rewarded in the future.

some people believe there is something called trading psychology
by mastering how trading psychology affected to you it's give you more skills in trading
means there is a lot of factors to determine how good you are and how you can make money in trading with skills
luck did not react too much in trading, skills it is.

quite curious of that. i guess it's about how to control ourselves in order to not getting easily panicked by some strange movement so we can choose the most wise decision at the end. i think that's really helpful especially for those who always doing panic selling and can't maximize their profit
otherwise i don't agree with you that luck didn't affect trading too much because actually even if you're most skilled among other if you don't have the luck you're more likely to fail

But I am not ready to agree with you. To me, I think trading is also depending 99% on luck and only 1 person on skill and experience, to me luck does not need skill whereas skill and experience are depending on luck. Overall to me all kinds of tradings also depend on luck. Skill may lead but only luck will get job done.

Exactly, we have to work hard to improved our skills. This is a venture that our aim to make money and we cannot just rely it with our luck as it cannot be with every time we need it. Our aim is to be successful in the long run and it does not matter even if we earn low as long as consistent.

Skills won't help you a lot once trading as there are plenty of reasons that make the price goes up or down.

At the other hand, luck will help you as if you are lucky enough your trading experience will always be successful, as all the best things are going to happen to you while trading, then you are going to earn money from that for sure.

I mainly thing that luck is the most important thing to anything that exists in life at any subject.

How can you trade if you don't have skill and you don't know how to trade properly. Trading is different from gambling which is just totally depending on luck. For me what you need in trading is to have both, you need to be skilled and you need to have some hope with your luck too.

But when you are looking at in-depth there are only slight differences between trading and gambling with the respect to skill and luck factors.

Obviously trading is completely based on analysis of one entity whereas no analysis is not at all possible with any entity in gambling.

This analysis part differentiates these two yet the role of luck is still needed to have consistent performance in trading.

You can argue about this all day long. But I think you need both skills and luck. The question should be - are you better with raw luck or with extreme understanding of the trading strategies?
And how high your luck factor should be? Do you need 50-50 skill and luck or that ratio should be different?
 

I vote for both too. How come we can win if we dont have the skills or even a smallest effort. Luck may happen for quite 5-10 times not all day maybe throught your game tje rest will depend on your skills. Whether you chose to rely on luck there will still times we need our brain to work and think to gain and to make the trading/game profitable ANYTIME ANYWHERE not just because its our lucky day.

But having only luck by your side would not suffice. Just turning up in the right place at the right time is not enough, you should also take full advantage of being lucky and use your luck to the max once it touches you. We all know the harrowing stories about lottery winners that ended up poorer and overall worse than they had been before they won the lottery ("from the shithouse to the penthouse and back again")...

well that is just wrong.
only people around here consider trading to be a form of gambling and they are mostly newbies who are only seeing trading from outside and have no idea what is going inside of it.
i suggest next time you check out what trading really is, for example go read some articles about trading and watch some educational videos on trading and after spending some time reading and learning you will laugh at this statement that "trading is like gambling"

The fact that trading also involves the possibility of losing doesn't make it one and same with gambling though that's often the view of those who have never gone into trading proper. In trading movements in price is determined by market forces and a trader that understands those forces can accurately predict the market most of the time, unlike with gambling, the player is at a lose what is coming and often times, it is the house that decides their fate. Moreover loses in trading can always be managed and limited at any point in time. A loss in gambling is almost always final and a player is left to watch helpless as their money grow wings right before their eyes.

However there are some traders that can be said to be gamblers. Those are the ones without any skill or strategy and incidentally, they usually get what was coming their way. What's funny is that those are the ones that turns around to say trading is one and same with gambling, which relies 99% on luck.

there are about 29 pages here mostly saying luck has nothing to do with trading or at least it is a very tiny part of it.

and if you know how to trade then you can see that too. it is all in the speculation, you find the signs whether they are news or they are activities on the market which are visible on the charts, you find them and then make a prediction about the price and then take some action. and this has nothing to do with luck.

You might be wrong in my view. Whether it is tiny or big force, there is a role for luck factor in trading for deciding our performances in trading.

I have seen many traders were ending up in losses just due to sudden changes/fluctuations even they had very good skill for in-depth technical analysis. There are some points, beyond that only luck may save us.

As said skills is always an important factor, but if luck is found along with skills then one will be successful. Making a profit only with skills is possible rarely but with luck its easy to profit good which makes luck to be the best among skills and luck.
