There may be a countdown, but definitely an announcement about exact launch time a couple days prior.

Good. Waiting to see the launch. A countdown timer is always better as it serves all people around the world regardless of different time zones.

We are preparing a fresh testnet, with optimized parameters and bugs squashed. We are also setting up a dns-seeder on second testnet to aid with connectivity. If all goes well this be the final parameters for mainnet Verium which will be launched after we run some tests on second testnet. This we be a fresh testnet chain, so if you want to try to mine on it again you are welcome. New wallets will be posted with these final parameters on vericoin.info/ico.html when they are ready. Key parameter change that will effect mining is we are dropping the memory requirement from 256MB to 128MB, to support older and hyperthreaded systems, speed syncing and loading the block index. This is still a very hard memory so won't advantage gpus or asics in any significant way.
As a reference this likely final memory requirement is exactly 1000x more memory hard than standard scrypt. So we may end up calling it mega-scrypt.
in this context standard scrypt would be kilo-scrypt
standard scrypt is 128kb memory requirement

Second that! We need a countdown timer, just use the one from the ICO

I'm curious will an old core2 duo be able to mine it or its way too slow?

The way you mention very hard for GPU's to mine, is this a reference meaning this could be mined with GPU's currently?
Will there be pools for this or just solo mining via the wallet only?

We haven't been able to mine it with a GPU, anything is possible, even if you were able to make it work, you would likely have to use a fraction of the available processors in a GPU at one time, in which case it would be less competitive than a CPU because GPU cores are slower.

Thanks for the reply, I would love to test the second testnet test . Roughly when will be be online?

Everyone's got a shot here, it's the core count that seems to matter most as well as memory speed.

Hey guys,

We are reconfiguring our supernodes for testnet2 as they have been giving us problems.  So holding off till later on testnet2 launch till the supernodes are behaving properly. If you have any testnet 1 clients up feel free to take them down.

This project looks very interesting, is it a new algo? It says on the op that it's ASIC and possibly GPU resistant so how would be mine it? or is it only for staking?
