'The French election is crucial to the entire EU economy. Hence, the uncertainty of what would come in two weeks is going to tell on the market. This is because what is normally a domestic affair is becoming a litmus test for the future of the EU going by the appeal of far-right populism.

It is also the first time in modern history that the center-left and center-right parties who have traditionally traded the presidency between them will not feature in the runoff.'

https://cointelegraph.com/news/brexit-effect-where-bitcoin-stands-as-macron-le-pen-advance-in-french-election

I have been arguing for years now that events are shunting us beyond the boundaries of historical political models, and we're still in the early early phases.

This means that France’s next president will be a former banker or a far-right populist.
ohh shiite the population is now on the right ... shame on me ... always thought the populist were left handed ... hence the term ... democracy.

re: bitcoin

still sticking to the claim that you will see a rapid wicked $5000 spike, good luck on cashing in, i suspect exchange malarkey and other tricks at that time.  and what goes up quick comes down quick.  $600 stabbing.  good luck on buying in Wink

no one reported on the China exchanges selling btc $100 under going rates.  very much a repeat of dec 2013.

you can buy but you can't checkout!

theme,theory,idea

BTC is and will be the top shelf LIQUID, but not so liquid.

imagine this:

ASK $2250
BID $2195

see the $55 spread?

yes you can dump $1000000 worth @ $2195
but if you want $1000000 pay @ $2250

[don't believe me check the vol. #s like 30k btc float, volume is trending down]

hence;
the BTC can not will not be transactional for cups of coffee.
hello ALTs.

it will be the Gold.  LTC the silver.

not the $, euro, yuan, yen, nor shekel.

also still think digital pegs are the best product for the general pubic.
they won't ween off fiat price models for a decade.

however; digital investors will have a suite of 5-500% returns to iPhone invest in.

cheers

'you can buy but you can't checkout!' A sort of Hotel California of Cryptos? (Gawd, is anyone here old enough to get this joke?)

Bitfin-Gox! And a guy on Reddit yesterday gettin' 'Cryptsy-ied' on Bter. And unsavoury spreads on Indian exchanges.

(And whatever they put in the water that makes people trade on Yobit!)

The subject of this article is the biblical house-built-on-sand crossed with a plastic bag full of used bandages left in the hot sun. It is our future:

'What France needs is reform that lifts its economy from stagnation, reduces high and rising unemployment, and begins healing a fractured society.

What the 54 per cent of French voters who opted for the extremes in the first round of the presidential elections want is revolution — and after years of failure by a political class that refuses to address ordinary voters’ concerns, it is hard to blame them.

But what France is likely to end up with is a centrist president who embodies everything those voters are rebelling against and whose modest efforts at tackling the country’s problems will be stymied by a hostile parliament and a public convinced that any change will be at its expense.'

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/inquirer/french-elections-round-two-dislike-le-pen-dislike-macron-too/news-story/49c8ee0f359bcdff6c3ddf66a3af67a4

Two points here:

one: 'reform that lifts its economy from stagnation, reduces high and rising unemployment, and begins healing a fractured society'? Pure fiction. These are expectations that assume the present model isn't 'broken.' But the present model is broken.

two: 'a centrist president who embodies everything those voters are rebelling against' Which seems to prove my claim above: if the system doesn't give people what they want, it's broken.

Historical Note: revolutions are far far more common than most people think; they happen faster than you'd guess; and the characters eating candied otters' noses in the big house on the hill are always the very last to figure out what's going on.

'China's economic growth is seen slowing to 6.5% in 2017'

Sounds okay? But: ' . . . as Beijing looks to put the economy on a more balanced and sustainable footing, growth is seen losing steam later this year . . . '

http://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2017/04/20/china-economic-growth-to-slow-in-2017/

It's only massive debt-creation that has kept China's economy from slowing more rapidly. It will continue falling.

Therefore . . . cryptos will become more and more attractive as safe havens!

'Dehaze then rattles off a series of statistics for other countries to illustrate the problem, finishing off with Spanish youth unemployment, which is more than 40pc . . . . It’s not only Europe that is being affected. The US, it’s starting in some Asian countries like Korea. For sure, it’s causing social unrest.'

Meanwhile, though, we see endless 'Eurozone Boom Begun' headlines.

Meanwhile, though: 'France has not managed to meet the EU mandated deficit target since before the financial crisis . . . '

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2017/04/30/emmanuel-macrons-bid-haul-france-economic-malaise-will-harder/

And the ECB is still providing massive stimulus.

This one is hard to check, but our tech officer has explained to me that this is the general case:

'SWIFT is absolutely critical to global banking and handles billions of transactions and messages each year.

So you can imagine my surprise when I found out that SWIFT runs on Windows Vista an obsolete operating system that Microsoft no longer supports.

When my bank received its SWIFT code, we were told that we had to have a computer running Vista in the office in order to connect to SWIFT.

It was such an absurd exercise to find an obsolete computer running an obsolete operating system to connect to the supposedly most advanced and important international payment network in the world.'
