It's difficult to really say if bitcoin has competition as no altcoin has really made it a point to compete with or against bitcoin.

If anything, fiat is bitcoin's competition... or rather bitcoin was made as an alternative, and therefore competition for accepted use as opposed to regular accepted fiat.

Alts just strengthen each other by research and knowledge.

I think this opinion is redundant, altcoin like Monero, Zcash and Etherium, shows amazing performance. Transactions with many confirmation in bitcoin I think should be immediately resolved, due to speed issues should be a priority.

i didnt know that litecoin even competed with bitcoin. Ethereum is not at all a competitor and Zcash is just a hype train and the initial miners will reap a good profit mining it and it is whats happening. Bitcoin wont have any worthy competition and will never have one.

I would argue that they are direct competitors of Bitcoin, they target the same kind of users, so it doesn't matter if they are less successful or not.

Someone quoted that bitcoin serves to be the strongest altcoin, but bitcoin is always bitcoin and other currencies that generated based upon bitcoin is the altcoins. Every altcoin is an competitor to bitcoin directly or indirectly. Important thing is that bitcoin might have not grown up to the current level if it hadn't got all these competitors.

All those FUDsters that where saying year ago how Bitcoin would fail because another currency would take over get proven wrong year after year. The more time Bticoin is alive, the stronger it gets and the bigger the network effect. Sorry but there will not be a Bitcoin 2.0. Bitcoin will go to 100k+ per coin in the next 5 to 10 years, it will absorb all the value researched in the field if not directly through protocol improvements then through sidechains.

Bitcoin will remain the only solid coin. The only coin that survived for the longest time (other coins can't claim this unless they invent a time machine).
There will be alts that pump really hard and make people millionaires, but no alt is going to surpass Bitcoin's strength and solidity. No coin will get a bigger marketcap. In the long term people holding 21+ BTC will be rewarded by history with rich-tier status for seeing the value in it before most people did. Do not let the FUDsters trick your mind or the trolls try to derrail the excellent job being done by Core devs.

bitcoin is paving the way. if bitcoin can make it and be widely accepted by the people and governments, then other cryptos will have an easier time to do the same. we then might see more competition since the risk to totally fail will be somewhat smaller. but keep in mind that different coins have different purpose and some are not competition but it is more of an coexistence.

Yup, it's true if bitcoin accepted by everyone and finally all people also entrusted their money to be taken over by the bitcoin. Then it all is something extremely fun and will definitely make us a very great benefit, because it is bitcoin is a digital currency that has a growth rate that depends on the user and if everyone accept bitcoin later use it then price bitcoin will be higher and it will strengthen its growth

After 2013 hype in cryptocurrency world, there were enormous amount of altcoins and still being created. At least in terms of value, on one was able to compete in long run (some coins were priced high just due to scarcity not due to demand/potential).

A competition cannot be just value-based, even bitcoin is not getting any tough competitor in terms of features as any feature is also made available for bitcoins directly or with some enhancements/applications.

Yes, I agree, it is undoubted that the bitcoin has deserved this privileged leadership because of being the most important and serious pioneer in the altcoin ecosystem. Yes, bitcoin's solidity can not be destroy by just any altcoins that is already in the market or will be just in the market. Bitcoin's impact to people is really hard that is why until now we appreciate and love bitcoin. No matter what happens in bitcoin, even if its price go down and up, still we are supporting and using it because we all know that bitcoin is the one worth waiting for. Maybe not now is the right time bitcoin will give something to us big but who knows maybe the next year on next bitcoin would make us all millionaires.

If we look at the price and value bitcoin certainly doesn't have any competition from any other cryptocurrency. If we look at popularity bitcoin again has no competition. The number of people who have been bitcoin's supporters is increasing daily so in my opinion bitcoin certainly has no competition. Whenever we talk about cryptocurrency the only thought which comes to our minds is that of bitcoin and no other coin. Even the people who are not into cryptocurrency as much as we are have heard about bitcoin but not about other coins so bitcoin has no potential competitor.
