I don't think bitcoin has or will have any serious competition at least not at this time, ETH looks promising but plenty of issues and mostly rising because of the pump and dump strategies rather than serious use same for monero and the like, You can't use these coins mostly and can just exchange them for BTC so no serious advantage in having them other than to sell them at a better BTC price.

All those FUDsters that where saying year ago how Bitcoin would fail because another currency would take over get proven wrong year after year. The more time Bticoin is alive, the stronger it gets and the bigger the network effect. Sorry but there will not be a Bitcoin 2.0. Bitcoin will go to 100k+ per coin in the next 5 to 10 years, it will absorb all the value researched in the field if not directly through protocol improvements then through sidechains.

Bitcoin will remain the only solid coin. The only coin that survived for the longest time (other coins can't claim this unless they invent a time machine).
There will be alts that pump really hard and make people millionaires, but no alt is going to surpass Bitcoin's strength and solidity. No coin will get a bigger marketcap. In the long term people holding 21+ BTC will be rewarded by history with rich-tier status for seeing the value in it before most people did. Do not let the FUDsters trick your mind or the trolls try to derrail the excellent job being done by Core devs.

Let's continue then our path towards inevitable triumph.

Yeah your right... People keeps bugging themselves because of this negative thoughts which is proven to be wrong... If there are a currency that will oppose bitcoin why it didn't appear now...  Because it is truly establish now and we can surely prove it...  It is really good now to invest in bitcoin and we dont need to worry anything about it... Bitcoin is the inception of digital currency. Some other cryptocurrency  were conceived in light of bitcoin. Among those cryptcurrency some of them are fit for contending with bitcoin. In any case, bitcoin will dependably be to finish everything

Hundred per cent agree. Bitcoin is the first ever and will always be. Even if there will come any new and charming, bitcoin is the history, so no way it will be forgotten. I suppose it is good to have some alternative, but they are just adding more fun and diversity. But bitcoin is one and only and all the rest will be compared to it.

So far I didn't find or recognise any altcoins that has a huge potential to be a competitor of bitcoin in the market except ethereum. But even if Ethereum has the huge potential of altcoin in the market today hence it couldn't yet provide a high blockchain technology that could be it's weapon to become a competitor of bitcoin, not yet so far.

All coins that exist are trying to compete bitcoin. if they don't exist, bitcoin most probably have more value than how much it is today. just look at how much is the marketcap to the rest of those below bitcoin.

Whatever we think and that we don't want to see any other bitcoin competitive but saying the truth recently that coinbase has added Ethereum in their exchange website means that this altcoin is growing and will grow very fast after a short period of time, and I think that this is one of the reasons why bitcoin price is declining nowadays.

the question for me is why?
are the people just interested in coin as an investment or are they invested in it because of the technology behind it? ethereum is all about smart contracts and after the dao not to much is happening. so i am not to worried.

The more coins that are available the more the stability is destroyed, with the ethereum situation I didn't expected it to be listed on coinbase which surprised me also coinbase because they had only fiat and bitcoin and now that ethereum is listed I think they made traders to think or suggest them to use ethereum and then trade them leaving the bitcoin for a bit.

Every good business deals with competition. Though bitcoin still remains as the best crypto currency and most popular coin in the market there are a lot of alternative coins that are popping in the market today which  I could consider as bitcoin’s indirect competitors.

Yes I agree with you, on one hand we are having quite old cryptocurrency comparing to others, but on the other hand we have still the biggest market capitalisation and the biggest price.

I agree fully. There is nothing like bitcoin and there will be nothing like it in the near future. I even think bitcoin is still in its early stage to be honest. I see this coin growing to atleast 10 fold in the next 5-10 years when this coin is being more and more accepted and used troughout the world.

I do not agree if bitcoin is said to have no rivals. Indeed, bitcoin still maintains its position to lead the crypto currency but some of the public's belief in bitcoin has been taken over by altcoin. Many users and bitcoin players are turning to altcoin. They have a view if bitcoin is hard to climb leaf again. It is true because technologically, altcoin is much superior to bitcoin. Therefore, this is a competition, a competition that bitcoin must face if it wants to maintain its existence.

I totally agree with that for now Bitcoin has no competitor or rival. Bitcoin is still maintaining it's position as the leading coin in the cryptocurrency world, in fact it controls the price of every other coin in the coin market cap but I believe in the nearest future some altcoins will complete with bitcoin but not sure if they will ever over take its position.

In my own opinion bitcoin has no competition but there are altcoins that has a high potencial to grow higher but i believe that no one can take place of it's place because bitcoin is more popular than altcoins.

  I yhink altcoin is not a big matter at all in the bitcoin feild or maybe on its price because they are all bitcoin dependent and if bitcoin failed altcoin are maybe failed too due to its price today altcoin is also dropping same as the bitcoin price so then I believe that bitcoin price is the most important thing on the market followed by others.

Bitcoin indeed has no competition right now but soon maybe. Bitcoin has been on top of the game for quite some time now but I believe some new coin will eventually come out and dethrone bitcoin and take its spot. Some coins are doing good and may show some potential but they are still so far behind from bitcoin.

Now no other cryprocurrency  can compare with it.If they're concerned about volality, they can instantly convert the BTC to cash via Coinbase or another service.
