Bitcoin has no competition

At a moment I don't see any competition to bitcoins as it is ruling the digital world and altcoins cannot be compared to bitcoins as they cannot be used for shopping or converted to fiat and in that case bitcoin holds upper hand over the altcoins.

Certainly, bitcoin is the only coin in a crypto currency which can be concerted into fiat vice versa. However, it's not impossible that a crpto currency coin can have ots exchanger since the market of crypto currency is spreading annd developing.

plenty of cryptos can be directly convert to fiat without the use of bitcoin, in fact litecoin, eth, etc, even doge are much easier to do so as they actually arrive 

That's right , many alts have nowadays a fiat exchange you can use!
Althugh BTC is the best for the moment , it needs competition ! Just as fiat conquers vs fiat , BTC needs a an alt to fight with! And let's see how ETH will evolve in this race !
I can just say that there will be a moment when another coin will surpass BTC ! It is mathematically impossible to be the 1st everytime.

And what can we gain or bitcoins gain if it gets an altcoin as competition? Nothing. Unless that new coin is recruiting non-bitcoin users, we're just going to be playing by ourselves. It will be much better if we all just invest in bitcoins rather than have bitcoin price go down because of a new coin. We will all make better money if we help each other and stick with bitcoins.

With the new coin, there's only 2 scenarios. The first one is that bitcoin users will migrate to that new coin, making bitcoin have much lower price. The second one is if the new coin will get money from the new investors. Imagine if those investors invested in bitcoins instead. The whole bitcoin community would've made money already.

And for the last paragraph, mathematically? How do you even calculate the possibility of something being the best one every time? I think it's possible for something to stay as the best thing that exists in that certain field maybe not forever but for a really really long time.

The ashes of the fallen bitcoin will give birth to the major altcoins. I don't really mind hard fork back then until BCU came out and relevant bitcoin users has started to hype it up. At the end of the day, it was all just a trading stunt for them to earn more bitcoins. BCU doesn't have an actual audience. We're all still here in the old bitcoin. I kind of pity the guys that invested thousands for BCU investment just because they thought it was the start of something.

BCU did create a huge hype and even made the price of bitcoin go down, but bitcoin still won. We're back to $1200. We already recovered from the damage the hard fork drama has caused.

If we think about the aspect ratio of short-term and long-term theory you are entirely correct. But in reality, many altcoin sharper upward every day, even dashcoin also compete, they just wait for momentum of bad issues that will greatly affect bitcoin value. I don't really like to think 10 years or even 100 years, estimates from year to year is enough to make us increase the economy.

As anyone can see, bitcoin has very big competition, it is one of hundreds cryptocurrencies available ( not talking about scam coins ).
Totally different aspect is that it would be very hard for any altcoin to overcome bitcoin, mostly because BTC is known worldwide, it was first cryptocurrency ( so many alts are using parts of btc code ), and the current price is really high according to the yearly chart.

To see bitcoin falling down to the second place, we would need to see some dramatically strange event, I cannot even imagine what would have to happen.
The volume of bitcoin trading compared to other cryptos is really high, so to weaken the position of bitcoin, an enormous amount of people would have to dump the bitcoin and exchange the money ( previously invested in BTC ) into altcoin- however that would need a very big movement on the market.


For now, we cannot say if bitcoin will be #1 cryptocurrency in 10-20 years, but we surely can say that it will be very strong in the next 5 years, and no alt will overcome the origin of cryptocurrencies.

But somehow when the price of bitcoin is falling down, those altcoins get pumped so hard that sometimes the value towards bitcoin was changed but the value of the dollar still remain the same. Probably people are moving their money out of the bitcoin in order to save their wealth, that just makes sense, but, it's mean that bitcoin actually can't affect all those crypto coins as a whole when it comes to price fluctuation.

Competitors will emerge sooner or later and today, it seems that BU is challenging bitcoin. BU may compete with bitcoin based from what is happening today, the fork ,etc. That is in the digital world. The reason is that the people are going toward the dash , ETH , monero etc like big altcoins Because they are going increasing rapidly in the price value and price . And also the speed of confirmation in the dash is much more fast then in the bitcoin , so here in my opinion the bitcoin needed a big improvement in his network to make more powerful and better to confirm his transactions speedly , so that no one coins or altcoin can jump over the bitcoin .

Please don't talk about dash it was obvious the pump was made and now the currency is badly dumped by the huge investors.
Plus if you see the market cap also of dash reduce and now ripple is on third. I think eth can be the best asa it recently good

Yeah, the pump is temporary and have high chance of being made by those whales who keeps their money in form of dash and taking advantage of the pump to move out their wealth. That's what happen when things get an instant pump, it will eventually falling down and touch its very deep point of price, can't expect more.

Yes and it will not be easy for any altcoin to replace bitcoin and they need a strong reason to do so as first priority of people would be always bitcoins and will never have same level of trust for any altcoins.

you are right, i am doing affiliate in my past and i use paypal to receive the payment, but after i know bitcoin, i think bitcoin now is one step in front of paypal and bitcoin itself has bright future and i think bitcoin has no competition like the OP said. i think people is using bitcoin is because of simple and easy and we don't need to fill any of document and we don't have to use our credit card so its really save for us.

And I don't mean that the government (any government of a major country, at least) is ever going to let Bitcoin openly compete with a national currency, that should be as clear as day. But the government can still greatly help Bitcoin if they choose to ruin their fiat currency which does happen now and then, here and there (see Zimbabwe as the most glaring example of this kind). Previously, before Bitcoin, the common folks of such a country couldn't do much. They could use, say, US dollars as cash but the government wouldn't allow a foreign currency to substitute a national one in any meaningful degree since it retained control over currency circulation via banks. This is no longer the case with Bitcoin which can be used for money transfers just like any other non-cash currency but doesn't need banks for that

Anyone who worked using PayPal will definitely shift towards Bitcoin because of many reasons. First of very less fees compared to PayPal and anonymity which Bitcoin offers to everyone. PayPal asks for too much data, credit cards, bank accounts, social security numbers as well as phone numbers where as Bitcoin is easier to use as well as to transact with other people.
The only negative points right now is about slower transactions and increase in fees but that is also very less when we compare it to PayPal so we can definitely say that Bitcoin got no competition right now.
