hah same here, I feel like a messiah in my home town.

Bitcoin and my country is a sad story. I guess of all the people I personally know only about 5 use bitcoin. Another 10 might have heard about it. I am not sure for what they use it but unfortunately it is not really possible to use it for many things here. Exchanging it is a hard thing and of course very unprofitable. There are no banks, institutions or shops which accept it. I think bitcoin is out of the law here. Not in the sense that it is forbidden but in the sense that it is not mentioned anywhere.

Where are you from? Almost the same situation is in here too, altho some drug dealers are already using it and mining it a long time ago. I'm planing on being the first one to open the caffe i my town that has bitcoin as a payment option, hoping to spread the bitcoin around a little.

In my country, I think there is quite many known bitcoin, about 50% of them invest in Bitcoin, and few are actively participating in the bitcoin economy.  Others just use bitcoin because it is the product of their MLM company.  Only a few know what bitcoin is and be able to take advantage of the profitability of Bitcoin.

2-5 years again, maybe. Actually to increase the popularity of bitcoin only need to publish media to the public. I think this is an effective way, but the problem is what news could make bitcoin become a popular (especially in their own country) ?

People will start having faith in bitcoin only if it gets recognition from the Government or else famous celebrities starts promoting it as people follow them and may get convinced easily.

For sure if a celebrity is going to endorse and promote usage of bitcoin here in my country then that is going to make bitcoin really famous and more of the supporters of that celebrity will follow the usage of their idol. Because here in my country maybe only thousands of people does only know and use bitcoin. I hope in year 2017 we are going to reach even just 100k users.

me too people are not that much aware of bitcoin yet so i think it would still be a couple of years before btc would be accepted as a regular currency here although it's becoming more and more known. hopefully bitcoin gets more widely known as i know it would benefit me if it does

Me also i do not see other people using bitcoin in my area but base on our local thread i can say that bitcoin is more popular in our country because the number of people discussing their good experience is more than i expected.

In my country , bitcoin is also well known, but it is still very difficult to find stores that accept bitcoin, so to use bitcoin that you get to buy something you should look for online stores that accept bitcoin or exchange it became the currency of the country you, so you can use it freely

bitcoin is not popular as other "legal fiat currency" , but for new payment processor bitcoin is very popular than other, like paypal, payeer etc. but the stats still under visa and mastercard.

I can say that in my country, bitcoin is not too popular to the people but very popular already to the business world.
Because we already have an online wallet business here who really is already the monopoly in the country.
They support paying bills, bank transactions and much more.

Here in my country it is popular in terms of users but we can not say that it is more popular because few stores accepting bitcoin as part of their mode of payment. But i am hoping that soon it would be accepted in supermarket.

Yeah people are using it but are not willing to disclose it and that is true that looking at the volume of traders I really feel that there are many people who are using bitcoin at a moment.

Honestly, is there a real need for you to pay with Bitcoin in local stores? Since you don't miss out on anything when you pay with fiat, there isn't a real need to wait for local stores to accept Bitcoin as payment option. When it comes, it will come, when it doesn't come, it's fine too.
