We know that bitcoin is strong and all the wallets have milletry grade security but one of my stupid friend today said that maybe someone can hack it with just a calculater because with math and correct formulas we can even predict gambling bets if that is possible then maybe there is any chance of this

I have encountered my fair share of these type of people around me and in my experience the best answer to these people is "yes, you are right"!

just let them stay in their dream world dreaming about hacking and their super advanced mathematical formulas I bet your friend has to think for 10 minutes to come up with the result of 2+2 Cheesy

I personally don't allow myself to give opinion on the matter, not unless I am fully aware of the range of ECDSA private keys, the secp256k1 elliptic curve and some other stuff regarding creating a private key

maybe you should introduce your friend to google and teach him how to search: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/2847/how-long-would-it-take-a-large-computer-to-crack-a-private-key
I dont think that the bitcoin is really strong becuase lots of people think that the bitcoin is strong but when peopel are really getting much information about the bitcoin they know that he is weak af.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

I don't think that Math can co-relate with your bets in gambling. Why? Because even the Casinos provide the statistics and patterns available for you. Everytime you bet the previous bet will be recorded at the board and you will know which has more chances of showing or not. But in the end you still have a chance to lose. Do you think patterns and math can help you? I guess not because even casinos provide it to you.

Bitcoin currency is strong, but at certain times the market value of the coins down because of ridiculous reasons. But there is little left in the percentage of residual bitcoin mining and then the value of the currency will rise to the limits. It's unavoidable.

The cost of bitcoin on the exchange today varies but is kept in the same limit. Perhaps this situation will not last long, because everything is projected to expect good growth cryptocurrency prices.

Bitcoin is the strongest of all crypto-currencies. The most famous coin and will have a prosperous future for the next years or decades. And who invest on it will receive good returns, as people that invested since 2013 already received a lot of money return, because the Bitcoin price increased a lot since that period. Many people around the world maybe don't know about crypto-currency yet, but there is a high probability to had already heared about the word Bitcoin.

with gambling bets and stuff like that, there exists a special key which if you know, you would be able to to know the outcomes. but with bitcoin each wallet has its own special key, so you only have access to your own funds and not everyone elses funds. personally i think bitcoins security is probably the best it gets.

very strong.
next!

but for real, is there any point in a thread like that?

Of course there is a point. We are discussing the strength of bitcoin. Some people will say it is strong, and some gonna say it is weak. Meanwhile, readers of this topic will decide to make or not to make investments in bitcoin.

Yes, I like this kind of thread too, people can explain their thoughts, some people say bitcoin will die for some reason, others says bitcoin will be the universal currency and their price will gonna increase and others people says bitcoin will have their part on the economy...

Is good to read this, see what people think, everything is about learning.

You are right, because there are some doubting Thomases that will always argue the bitcoin is weak, some will even predict the downfall of the currency while the serious ones are out there buying and selling bitcoin to make huge profits.  Bitcoin will always be strong as per it has in the past.

Bitcoin is the strongest cryptocurrency that has ever existed, and I dont expect any other crypto to ever take the number one spot away from it. It will always be 80% BTC 20% altcoins.

I think there are hundreds of reasons that could make bitcoin prices down, bitcoin strength relies on the user, if bitcoin has a very large user can be said that bitcoin to be very strong

Your friend is stupid, as you said.

Unless you have some virus on your pc, or a keylogger, or bad wallet password, it's unlikely that it will be hacked.

You literally have a higher chance of losing your coins by forgetting the password or by investing in scams. So those should be the priorities to defend against lol.

If any bad news comes out again then surely prices will go down. All these investments are risky so it is always good practice to book your partial profits whenever you get an opportunity. As of now prices are more stable above 600 and I hope it should go up from here on unless some bad news come up then don't know.

The bitcoin price has risen about one or two dollars since yesterday, and for some, this is enough to instill a question into their heads… “Is bitcoin finally on the path to recovery?”
Yesterday I spoke of living each day as it comes and not allowing thoughts and emotions to jeopardize one’s status.  Bitcoin, as we’ve all seen, is a mixed portrait; it goes up, it goes down, it goes up, it goes down.  It’s hard to predict where it will go, and many of us are completely shocked when a massive drop like what occurred in January takes place.
In adding to what I wrote yesterday, I will mention that I stand by my original thought that one should neither get too happy nor too down about the bitcoin price.  It’s a fluctuating meter, but if you are going to experience some sort of internal emotion about it all, experience joy.  That’s right… Even a $1-$2 increase like what we’ve recently witnessed is worth a little bit of celebration.  If you’re going to express a thought or a feeling, shouldn’t it be positive?
Because right now there is fear amiss… One of the largest bitcoin companies, Bitreserve, has gone so far as to claim that bitcoin will no longer be around in five years.  This is large and damaging talk indeed, particularly when the company recently raised almost $10 million to grow and further expand its core services.  If what Bitreserve says is true, why go through all that?  Why not just cut ties with digital currency now?

BTC is experienced as a secured system to be with. We have secured wallets as well. Everyone here has trust on blockchain wallets, localbitcoin wallets and on other wallets. The price is really high compared to other currency. This is the sign of its strong foundation. Though many governments are against it, one or the other way they support in terms of making the merchants accept the bitcoins.

Of course we can find the weakness of the system, but Bitcoin is pretty strong so it would be difficult for us to do. Just tell your friend that we can do that but it requires 10 Isaac Newton, 5 Alan Turing, and the next next gen computer to hack the network.
If your friend still thinks that Bitcoin is not really strong, then I'm pretty sure that he has 1250 IQ score.
