Looking for work? Join our team!

In few days we know our budget, and after that we can make some choices about who we hire. More funding of course means faster development with bigger team.

If you have been thinking about sending us an application, please don't wait, go ahead and send it!

Who are we?

We are a horizontally structured organization that is working on open source technology. We want to create long term solutions for crypto, and we see fiat as our competitor - not other crypto projects. Thus we are looking to cooperate and contribute, rather than compete. Let's help the entire industry and there won't be any limits to our growth potential.

Our community comes from all over the world, and we would like to employ people from all over the world. No formal education is needed, or asked.

Who we need?

- project managers
- GUI devs
- testers for command line API
- windows build specialists
- C devs

Our roadmap is huge, and with the low level technology we developed it is possible to create all short of things on top. When we launch/soon after launch we will have:
 - working dPoW
 - PAX1
 - EasyDEX
 - Assetchains (command line)

What we will be doing afterwards (at least):
 - PAX2
 - InstantDEX (fully featured trading environment for traders) GUI
 - Assetchains GUI
 - smartchains, and beyond

There are tons of projects to manage, test and develop. If you are interested, please send a message to contact@komodoplatform.com
 - provide some basic info about what you have done before / what are you capabilities
 - current understanding about our platform
 - whatever you are looking for a full-time or part-time job
 - salary requirement

Please note though that even though we have raised a considerable amount of money our budgets will be quite limited. The dPoW implementation requires a lot of capital alone, and due to the scale of the project we need to have a large team. We want to stay conservative with our budget use, as we plan to be here for a long time.

Recently jl777 also stated that he is looking for someone to start working on a assetchains GUI:
Quote
Now assetchains are nearing completion, it would be good if there was someone working on a GUI to manage the creation of new chains. Plz post in #komodo if you are available to work on such a GUI, it would likely end up being a page in satinder’s iguana GUI. The main function I see in the GUI is “create chain” and it needs at a minimum a name, pubkeys of notarizers, supply. Once a chain is started, then other nodes can use the generated iguana code to connect to it or run another mining node.

We also need someone to automate the creation of explorers. Here's what jl777 said:
Quote
If you are able to do GUI and some systems work (ie. automate creation of explorers) contact me. This is a paid task, just not sure how much work it will be so the first step is to get a qualified person to assess the amount of work it is

If you need further information just join our Slack and ask in #komodo

We hope to get tons of applications into our inbox!

Best regards,
Komodo Team

Awesome but what is the pay rate? Thanks.

Awesome but what is the pay rate? Thanks.

It depends on a lot of things, we cannot give any uniform pay rate. That's why we asked everyone to include a salary requirement. Smiley

Grewalsatinder updates us today about Komodo's 5% APR and Komodo's GUI.

With 5% APR any KMD holder can easily accumulate more coins: just keep them in your wallet and move them around once a year. It's an automated thing and doesn't require any technical skills.

The 5% APR is not in Zcash, as it is a Komodo feature. The 5% APR will remain until we reach the max supply of 200M KMD. Only a fraction of the new supply goes to the miners (notary nodes mostly).

Quote
Today James did some update to Komodo code to make 5% APR work in Komodo test network. It's still in pretty much in testing, and James is working on to polish it, iron it further to make sure everything works perfect. This update today allowed to query and show 5% APR interest rates through Komodo RPC API calls, and I implemented it as quickly as James announced this update. So, the latest updates on Komodo/Zcash GUIs are:

- Komodo GUI shows Interest info on it's Dashboard now.
- Because Zcash GUI and Komodo GUI uses common HTML/Js code to display everything similar I added further conditions to GUI backend code to display adjust and display the screens accordingly if a user views Komodo GUI, and Zcash GUI. Interest Rates info will only show under Komodo GUI, and not in Zcash GUI, as it's Komodo feature.
- An error check is added to Komodo/Zcash GUI, in case user doesn't have Komodo or Zcash wallet/daemon running on their machines which connects to iguana, and EasyDEX-GUI, the error shows approriate hints and instrucions to help users to solve that issue.

- Also fixed a few GUI bugs,
    - One was not switching between Komodo and Zcash when clicked on different wallet GUI. Like if first clicked on Komodo, and then clicked on Zcash in sidebar, Zcash screen was still using Komodo API calls. Now, it's fixed with this update, and uses appropirate API calls as GUI screens changes.
    - Another minor update fixed hiding and showing appropirate sections when Komodo/Zcash GUIs are switched screens. It was showing previously opened GUI's screen, with old data. With this update, it hides/shows appropriate screens and refreshes the data.

Zcash GUI showing error handling for unable to connect to Zcash External Wallet or daemon.

Komodo Screen showing Interest Rates APR info.

Zcash GUI showing same view as before, without interest rates info

EDIT: Further details about 5% APR

Usually staking requires one or even two transactions per staking, mostly to just get a fraction of a coin, and this has to be done every block. However with KMD the interest is accrued automatically and you can collect it as early as one hour.

How to earn the interest?
Do nothing, you are earning it all the time.

How to collect the interest?
Just send funds and it will automatically add the interest.

How to check your interest?
You can see the accumulated interest rate from the GUI. However more technically speaking you can use 'listunspent', 'gettxout' and 'getrawtransaction' to show the interest accrued on a per utxo basis, 'getinfo' and 'z_gettotalbalance' shows the combined interest among all your utxo

We made the 5% APR as easy to use as possible. There are no settings to turn on, no modes to active, no passwords to unlock.

Since it is not directly visible in the blockchain, the only indication it exists is via the various calls, as it accumulates at the satoshi level. You can track how the interest grows by just doing a 'getinfo' call hourly.

One technical note: in order for utxo to gain interest it needs to be at least 10 KMD, and it also needs to have nLockTime field set. By default in other coins this field is zero, but with KMD it is changed so that by doing a 'sendtoaddress' sets the nLockTime. What that means is that if somebody sends some KMD to you using komodod, it will start earning interest. To verify just make sure nLockTime is not zero.

Only people that are mining are likely to have utxo that doesn't earn interest. They would need to send it (anywhere) for it to start earning interest. So if utxo is eligible it will automatically start earning interest and to get it, just spend it.

First Article

We will explain what Komodo is with 3 articles! The first one is titled: "Where Hope Lies for Privacy, Anonymity, and Fungibility in Cryptocurrency".

It was just published on our website! https://komodoplatform.com/article-1/

Read & share, and wait for our next one Wink

The article was translated & published in Russian as well. We will publish Chinese and Spanish translations as soon as they are finished.

Very nice article, good job! Smiley
I strongly believe that KMD will be one of the best projects for this year.

I guess that many new people will join this last week and support even more KMD... Roll Eyes Tongue

I'll second that, the article was very well written and easy to understand. I hate when articles that promise to explain technical issues only create more uncertainty and confusion. Good job!

Why do you say that? Everything is pretty much working in our testnet:
 - dPoW (we make notarizations to bitcoin blockchain)
 - PAX pegged assets (being tested, could be some bugs, but works)
 - Decentralized cross-chain exchange (GUI not ready, but we have made atomic swaps from a command line)
 - Zcash anonymous transactions are working
 - 5% APR is working (but its the newest addition and is still being tested, debugged)
 - You can install Iguana multiwallet and sync multible blockchain at the same time (warning: for advanced users only at this point, next major release ~2 weeks after ICO)

We have already delivered, and the ICO is still going on. It just takes a bit longer to fix all the bugs and get installers ready. However, we are ahead of schedule and the development speed has been enormous during the whole ICO.

Thanks for asking though, hopefully this cleared everything about the state of our project!

Hello,

i want to host a komodo notary node like discribed on github. I decided to ask my questions here, because maybe someone else is looking for these informations:

- As far as i understood, komodo notary nodes will "mine" komodo coins by pushing the transactions into BTC blockchain. Is this true?
- It is discribed, that the node will need min. 64GB of RAM -> are 32GB or 48GB also working or are the scripts such big?
- What CPU is needed? Is it a most likely RAM based application or CPU/HDD?
- Should the server have much storage for eventually very big db.logs / transaction logs?

Maybe someone can help me out Smiley
Thank you, seems like one of the most promising current projects out there.

Important info about our roadmap!

Where can I see the KOMODO roadmap? Invested 0.5btc

We try to cover some of that in our third article we publish this week.

~ 2 weeks after ICO you can make Zcash anonymous payments and we will have notary nodes notarizing Komodo blockchain to Bitcoin's blockchain, i.e. bitcoin protection. We will also be securing our fiat pegged assets with dPoW, which are now being tested in the testnet. The short term roadmap is to find all the bugs and deliver all the features we have talked about: EasyDEX, PAX1, Assetchains.

Another job is to encourage people to run custom notary nodes that are used to notarize the block hashes of 3rd party blockchains to Komodo. We want to get as many blockchains to use dPoW as possible. The best thing is, that all it requires is some code changes (can be done in 1 day), and a softfork. There is really no limit of how many blockchains could use Komodo to get bitcoin level protection.

All this will take time & effort... but if we are talking about the roadmap beyond these features, then I'll just quote jl777:
Beyond assetchains, there will be smart chains which are special purpose blockchains that implement a dapp. think of it like an ASIC that does one thing and only one thing, vs a CPU that is running and OS and doing many things at once. We expect this to be a very popular way to utilize blockchain tech and the isolation it provides combined with efficiency that is further secured by dPoW will hopefully make a good demand for KMD.

After smartchains jl777 is also looking to develop 'virtualchains', which are smartchains without any physical nodes.

What we are looking to do, is use DEX & dPoW to make blockchains scalable. A quote from jl777:
Quote
Using the iguana loosely coupled bitcoin compatible blockchains, effective tx/sec can be scaled up to very large levels just by creating many special purpose blockchains and connecting them together in a hierarchy. This type of capacity increase is for after the basic single chain, but the power of the atomic cross chain swap is more than for just doing DEX

Another quote from jl777:
Quote
one of the key smartchains I want to do is a hierarchical smartchain. that is where N smartchains all connect to each other in a hierarchy, with atomic swaps to connect to each other. each of these related smart chains will be denominated in the same coin, ie EUR... by being able to specify an arbitrary hierarchy topology, ANY level of scaling can be achieved as we know blockchains can handle ~100 tx per minute, so if 100x that capacity is needed, just make 100 smartchains and connect them together. No magic required. being single purpose, each smartchain only needs to store data related to itself.

We also have PAX2 and InstantDEX
 - PAX2 will basically create a decentralized forex market, where you can short PAX currencies and receive interest by balancing the market.
 - InstantDEX has the same backend as EasyDEX, but it is made for traders. It is a fully featured trading environment. No GUI team has been assigned to this task yet.

Whats up with the komodoplatform website?
It says im banned from the site.
Is that just me, or anyone else having the same issue?

Are you still having problems? No one else has reported any such problems to us.

ICO ends this weekend, any news on coin distribution and exchange where we can trade it.

We will distribute the coins ~2 weeks after the ICO.

We cannot promise if / when the exchanges list us, you will have to ask them! We have informed them about us.
