It would appear they have plenty of funding on this project. Perhaps they decided they are better off without an ICO lol, which is great really for a change and says something about the coin/team. Seems most low level coins do the ICO these days anyways. Not to say that all coins are low level that offer Ico's lol

Oh nice ill be taking part in this one for sure. Surprised at the non ico since many are going that way these days.
Glad there is no ico it just might be what helps this coin alot... So many ico offers now a days and maybe 1/10 is a legit coin not just being cloned to be a scam.

no ico, what a pity, most coins will be mined by Chinese big miners. I consider ico is more fair.

Just a footnote here,,,, no windows support for 1.0 version, only Linux support, but will be on next version release... so, however you can run a VM with Linux etc. but what a hassle lol By the time the 2nd version releases with windows support, all the early bird specials will be gone Please correct me if I am wrong on this or there is Windows support in time for launch... Guess ill be brushing up on Ubuntu Edit: OC, do you know if there is or will be a Windows miner software available for pool mining? I don't want to misunderstand anything that I have read

I think the only question that matters is ....
How much h/s can I get with my R9 280x?
Or I guess since its 2016...
How much h/s can I get with my RX 480?

LOL ya really, you like the h/s thing huh I just installed my first 480 8GB yesterday afternoon... so far so good. Mining EXP atm and getting 22 mh's at all stock settings AND using the latest drivers for a change instead of Crimson 15.12 as on all others. And yes got a few 280x's that are my true work horses Total system pull is bout 250 watts! while mining on my personal rig. May be on the market for 3 more 480's. I need to say though on my old 7970 I hash at 25 mh with ever so slight OC'ing. If I don't get the 480's I am on the market for 4 old 7950's cheap. For some reason that rig with that setup yields the most shares. On a 380 x4 I get less... makes ya wonder lol

Hello fellow miners,
I'm planning to use my Evga SR-x double CPU board with two xenon E5s. Since Zcash is programmed to be mined with CPUs, do I have to configure special settings in Linux or the Zcash protocol? Will it make a difference if I use a double CPU MB to mine Zcash more efficiently? The xenons are quad core, with two CPUs can get 8 core processing.
Cheers

I don't want to misunderstand anything that I have read AFAIK there will be miners available for all platforms, it depends a bit on the contest if someone will publish the miner or not, but it's very likely with a bounty of $30k Here some Info about the Reward Structure which I've just added to the OP as well: REWARD STRUCTURE: 2.5 minute block times, 12.5 ZEC per block (so the same 50 ZEC per 10 minutes as Bitcoin) - During the first four years, 80% goes to miners and 20% to Founders' Reward (so miners get 10 ZEC per block for first four years, then 6.25 ZEC, and then halving after) - During the first ~month, the block reward ramps up linearly from 0.005(ish?) ZEC to 12.5 ZEC (the mining slow start) so this will be pretty hard to mine

before launch?? is there testnet zcash? it is no value, according to zcash website. remember yobit lisk and yobit waves? something like.. trade future price is a messy thing. yes, iou trading sucks, and the price is generally overvalued, zcash price is 0.08? WTF, lmao. No people will buy this when the real zcash launch. Perhaps. Or perhaps the slow start to mining and the exceptional interest in the BitMEX futures market will make for a vertical take off. Many people have been waiting a long time for this coin. Is Bitmex planning to mine when Zcash is launched in order to honor those IOUs ? They are futures not IOUs. Different things.

Bitmex still has to deliver on the futures contract with actual ZEC after launch, right? Do they plan on mining?

My guess is that the current profitability of this coin will be similar to XMR.
Investors priced this coin at $15 a coin, the 0.08BTC/ZEC we are seeing at that Future exchange is way off.
So 7200 Coins a day, 5760 goes off to the miners -> $86,400 daily miners reward, similar to XMR. It might reduce the ETH difficulty by about 10-15%.

So expensive?? But zcash is not massive adoption so far, while some dark net markets have already accepted monero payment, monero is better on adoption

Doubt a premine like this can be successful. I think the outcome will be similar to what happened with Bytecoin/Monero. Once the community figured out what happened (Bytecoin was premined), they made a fork (Monero). If the Zcash team wants to take 20% of the coins, that's fine. They can have their worthless premined Zcash, while the value will instead go to the fairly launched fork.

I prefer ico than big proportion premine, the dev team is so rich, why they premine so much? They should have an ico.
