I have that same card but only with BFR memory, so my advice is a guess, but yes, what you wrote is what I would try first.  Keep in mind that it is a risk. My advice has no guarantee and you might brick your card.  Since that card has no second BIOS, it is a risk that you have to decide upon.  I personally would try it, but then again I know how to jumper a BIOS physically and boot into program mode and reset it using a USB windows 98 boot to DOS.  Good luck.

i flash the bios ,,when ming start the pc get the bluescreen,,  so it can not  work with that edit

Okay, that was the natural thing to attempt.  Next try this:

For each of the strings that begin with F0 49 02, (AFTER the next characters that are 01, or 02, or 03) replace with the following:

7771332000000000CECD5939805511112E1589080048C60022339D086C0014206A8900A00200312 0140F262B88252F15

That is the string from my XFX 280x Hynix AFR modded.  Of course, after editing, reopen the file with VBE7.0.0.7b.exe to correct the invalid checksum.

Run the miner at 1000/1500 1150vddc first until it proves stable then you can likely set it at 1050/1500 1125 vddc.

Let's use the first strap for example: The "00" after the 40 9C 00, is the "field" that the manufacturers use to identify which memory type is affected by that strap.  For your "brand" 00 may mean Hynix, it may mean Elpida, Use the https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2-oGzLC-iwKRndWZEptOWo2eUU/edit, Tahiti_I_x64.exe, to identify which type of memory is yours.

If yours is Hynix, then use the suggested straps for Hynix to replace your strap AFTER the above mentioned "field."
Likewise, for Elpida.  BUT DO NOT CHANGE THE ABOVE LISTED 'FIELD' FROM 00 TO 01 OR 02!!!!

I've identified this is Hynix AFR. You mean I should leave straps with 00 and replace next bytes or just insert new recomended straps? I'm not sure because after I don't have other straps with 01

Those in red MUST REMAIN the same value for YOUR BIOS.  YOUR device says that 00 is Hynix, but the above example says that 01 is Hynix.  Therefore, only change the bytes AFTER the value in red.

Hello, everyone! I have ASUS DCUII Top 1070/1600 with BIOS 015.041.000.000.000000 memory is H5GQ2H24AFR
I've founded my straps. But as u can see last value for all straps is 0 not 1 as in 1st post.

Those in red MUST REMAIN the same value for YOUR BIOS.  YOUR device says that 00 is Hynix, but the above example says that 01 is Hynix.  Therefore, only change the bytes AFTER the value in red.

Hello, everyone! I have ASUS DCUII Top 1070/1600 with BIOS 015.041.000.000.000000 memory is H5GQ2H24AFR
I've founded my straps. But as u can see last value for all straps is 0 not 1 as in 1st post.

I suppose this is a correct patch for ASUS r9 280x DCUII Top with Hynix AFR memory

Idea is a change range of straps and little bit change timing for 1551-Max Mhz range.
This model has two additional straps and it were replaced on 2100 Mhz and 2200 Mhz just for fill
Timings for 1st 5 straps stay as default
Next 3 straps have modified timings.

Both the ASUS 7970 and ASUS 280x are already modded in the first post. You can download them and flash instead of modding them manually with hex editors.

The first one posted on page one. Asus 280x direct cuii. I tried it. Claymore 11 I was getting errors on one of the 6 cards in the system and it was acting weird. Some of the cards weren't putting up accepted shares or anything. Possilly the ram isn't hynx I'll have more time to look into it tonight but thoughts on that? Perhaps the undervolt is causing issues but I manually changed it to higher levels and still problems.

Hello gentlemen,

I want to optimize my Sapphire HD7970s Dualx OC for mining altcoins. But at this point i'm afraid not to brick them so i dared to ask some advice from you which have more experience than me .
What i did so far was to download GPU-Z which i used to save the current BIOS of one of my cards and then i opened it with VBE7 to see the current settings which i will post below.
Can you please suggest what settings should i modify so i can improve the power consumption and hashrate ?

I have many of those.  Here you go:

http://www.filedropper.com/rig1sapphire7970hynix1050-1500-1096

voltage set at 1.093, adjust with VBE7 as needed.

Run clock at 1050, memory at 1500.

Also, don't worry about bricking the card, it has two BIOSes.

For the Tahiti bios's if you are getting lots of rejects or your speed is faster than 350 H/S you need to lower your intensity and it should fix all these issues.

Tahiti 350sol? hmm my best result with R9 280x is 320sol 1100/1625 hynix AFR full stable.
Optminer 1.6.0 win 7 with 15.12 driver

maybe with high clock, but power consumption than rise.

I said your speed shouldn't be over 350H/s. If it is something is wrong.

Hello , mates , could someone help me modding some 470s with Micron memory.
I can't access it's timings properly with the current releases of PolarisBiosEditor...
I've uploaded an original BIOS here:

This thread is primarily for the Tahiti based GPUs like the 7950/7970/280x. For the 470 search for the "RX 470" thread on here and they got examples there.

Hey guys !  Quick question, So I got a 280x tri-x 251-100sa for fun to play with.  Its running 300sols on the custom timings, but what I really want is to bring the voltage down to save as much power as possible.  Right now its 1.256v....too high for me.  Everytime I try to modify voltages I get stuck at 0.95v and 500mhz.  It sucks though, a 60.6% asic.  Can anyone point me in the right direction ?  I'm just starting to look into the 280x tahiti stuff.
oh yeah MSI afterburner doesnt control anything, although you can play with the values.
