You can already control it (and any other RPC API miner on the network) with MultiMiner. You just need to configure it to allow API access from your IP. From looking through the MultiMiner thread it seems like you already have that working. AFAIK there is also an update for the firmware that makes it work properly with stratum proxies. What features are you looking for that are missing?

I do plan to work on native BFGMiner support for the S1 but I'm not sure that will change much for MultiMiner.

My pleasure! I do plan on adding more integration there. There's a lot of stuff you can do via the RPC API so pool switching is just the start.

I previously reported an issue with --load-balance apparently impacting the performance of my GPU miner.  Today I replicated with my Antminer ASIC rig.  Please note the only significant difference between the two outputs below are the use of "--load-balance" with quotas vs. the use of "--balance".  Run times are similar and done back to back on the same hardware on the same system.

The --load-balance rig averaged 2.39Gh/s over 26 minutes with 36 hardware errors.
The --balance rig averaged 11.96Gh/s over 27 minutes with 0 hardware errors.

I'm happy to volunteer the rig for testing if that would help resolve this - I really, really like the control --load-balance would provide me if I didn't take the performance hit.

For some reason there seems to be a huge difference in performance between bfgminer and cgminer-gc3355.


Here are 10 min runs, the only dif in setup is the miner used:
- watch the total accepted shares
- watch the HW errors on bfgminer
- watch the spamming message from stratum

I had the occasion today to try out BFGMiner with my GS. The controller I was using didn't work well with the USB hubs, GSs, and winUSB driver. I was forced to use a different driver that assigned COM ports to each GS.

My question is, which driver version where you using for each one? My experience was that CGMiner refused to see the GS under any circumstances, and BFG would only see them with two specific GS drivers that assigned COM ports.

The fact that there are so many hardware errors across all units, sounds to me like either a port misconfiguration or a bad driver.

I did ultimately move the GSs over a different controller that I could get CGMiner to work on. BFGMiner would always have 1-2 GSs showing hashes but never submitting shares, even over an hour of mining. Better luck with next release.

I just received this data from GRIDSEED via HASHRA.com today. 3-13-14
I'm paraphrasing for general clarity.
I've also added some of my own observations based on direct experience with my own GS5's.

GRIDSEED GS3355 5 Chip USB Miner - Flashing RED and GREEN LED's - What They Actually Mean.

All timings are either approximate or exact, if not darn close!
Your clock speed may vary slightly.

GREEN flashing LED means - 5V is ON / drive electronics are powered up.
GREEN LED is ON for 1 second, OFF for 1 second.

RED flashing LED - ON 3 seconds / OFF 3 seconds:
Miner Is Hashing / Processing Data.

RED flashing LED - ON 60 to 70 seconds - OFF 60 to 70 seconds:
Miner is Not Hashing / Processing Data.

If Fan is OFF and RED LED IS STUCK ON or OFF i.e. not flashing:
12V is OFF - 5V is ON.

FAN is ON but no GREEN OR RED LED's are flashing ON or OFF:
12V ON - 5V OFF.

When first powering the miner on, the best sequence I have found is:
First, turn 12V Power ON
Second, turn 5V USB Power ON
This will enable self test to occur in correct sequence. (I'm guessing)
If you do not use correct power up sequence, various hash / no hash / no shares reported type problems may occur. (I'm guessing here too)

A few seconds after 5V USB Power is turned on, the GREEN LED's will start
to flash ON/OFF as written above.
After 12V power is turned ON, in about 60 to 70 seconds,
the RED LED's will start to sequence ON/OFF as written above.

cpu mining doesn't really generate much these days BTC , try scrypt mining
