Yes, I'm here

We're still looking for a lead dev, there's someone _ingsoc wants me to meet soon

Although 0.4 is considered more or less "final" at this point, I've been musing over some changes, namely,

1.) Forking primecoin and using that hash/prime algorithm for mining.
2.) Establishing a peer-to-peer marketplace within the chain itself for people to exchange coins and goods.  I have a pretty good idea how to do this after thinking about it for the past two weeks, and I'll probably write something up soon.

If you're interested in being a lead dev, just e-mail me at dev.mc2@gmail.com with a resume + CV, I'd love to hear from you

I am a Python developer, not qualified for being a lead dev in a project that requires C++ skills. However, I hope that I can give a hand

Holy crap this still isn't in development?  Anybody get the memo that this kinda missed the alt train by about 3 months now?  Mining alts cost more than electricity for most now.  Not a good time to be taking people's money/"funding" for a project that has a high probability of not being profitable in any way.  If its not profitable for miners to mine who's gonna secure the block chain and mint new coins?  The amount of effort put into this is incredible though.  Imagine this kind of support and effort put into a service like an exchange that actually works well that would still be around next year this time.  I have a strong feeling next fall most alts will be gone other than the big 3 or 4 or will cost much more to mine than they are worth. Kudos to everyone involved but a little late to the party if you ask me.

And before people start harassing me about "not all alts are created to be profitable, some have a real purpose".  I'm sorry to say no matter how "revolutionary" your new alt is its still not BTC and will always be seen as a copy by the masses we so desperately need to accept it for it to be successful in any way beyond this small group of crypto enthusiasts on the few forums we visit.

Distribution scheme was last updated end of august. Need to double check the scheme to reflect the most accurate risk assessment as things changed dramatically over the last two months if this project ever gets started

Everyone close to the project is still active. If new ideas that seem useful come to the forefront, they will be added.  There are some potential devs that we are actively talking to.  It's hard to find people seriously dedicated to putting in all the effort required.

Alt coins are not comfortable to SHA256 mining.

Anything we can do to help? Post hiring posters or anything? I would love to capitalize on the China interest.

Maybe if there is a infographic that outlines the requirements and salary options we can spread that and get some more leads for you.

Lots of interested people following this project. Would love to use this resource instead of having then idly wait.

Nah, I wouldn't worry too much.  We think we have some pretty good developers lined up at the moment, and I'm working on a powerpoint presentation right now.

Hey all, have been following Net since the begining, nice to see it nearing its realease time Smiley

I just wantet to suggest to the devs if they would like to take a look at the momentum mining algo?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=313479.0
If momentum is what it seems to be, then that would be realy cool if Net could use it, would be way better then scrypt in my opinion.
Let me know what you think about it Smiley

Too optimistic. Until I see a prototyping version, I call it an idea (not even a vaporware)

Haha. I feel bored. I just want to make this topic more live. lol

Can we please get this project started

If you have interest in MC2, there's a poll going on about an extended version of the development funding model we want to use for this project. I hope to play an active part in both projects as time goes on.

A lot of what has stalled our own progress here is that we don't have a developer. The ideas are worthy of implementation, regardless of whether you have ideological differences, and it's been our goal to find someone who could implement MC2. There are some really good leads, and we'll even post a proper job posting - but if you understand bitcoind, you understand that only a few people in the world have a strong enough command of that codebase to implement what MC2 proposes. You don't just need a developer, you need someone very good who can work with the ideas.

Furthermore, many people close to the Bitcoin code are in opposition to PoS - which further complicates the search for a very good developer. This is why platforms like btcd sound really promising, because those folks are working really hard to simplify and demystify a lot of the Bitcoin magic that remains undocumented. But btcd is a while off still, so we can't do much but wait unfortunately. It doesn't mean MC2 isn't going to become a reality, but it is an attempt at an explanation for the sometimes frustration and impatience we all feel at times.

What does sound promising about the other proposal is that project has a developer with a high command of the Bitcoin code. I am biased because I support that project as well, so go read for yourself if you want something that'll move faster. Also, please understand I'm not trying to upset anyone or diss any project - I support both and will continue to do so. It would be like getting mad at tacotime for supporting ASICs and then putting a conceptual white paper up that promotes prolonging ASIC resistance. Tongue

tldr; If you want altcoin, vote!

It appears that we have obtained a pool of prospective funding and we hope that development will begin in Dec or Jan.

We're also playing around with some ideas for other things to use the blockchain for -- I'm pretty sure I have a way to create an embedded, decentralized marketplace system within the blockchain whose relay to clients is optional.
