I thought I'd post this as a heads-up:

I've been talking to Baikal through Skype and ordered one Giant last week. I also sent an e-mail to their e-mail on their website to confirm the Skype contact and BTC address. So I'm (hopefully) good.

However, I noticed that people have been reporting strange behavior from that same Skype contact the last few days. And when I checked, it had also changed name from "being a lot of Baikal contact information" to "mark davis".

So anyone trying to contact Baikal through Skype should be careful - or even better, just don't do it until they update us on the situation!

Even their own thread about how to find the correct Skype profile is now wrong!

Original thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1804508
Thanks, good to know.

Count me in for the next group buy that comes up for the 600M Baikal miners! I will for sure get 4 units if the new group buy has the same 10% discount as the ones before. I just bought two minis from someone else  and they are on the way with DHL tracking so hopefully they arrive in good working order.

Someone is currently selling 2 brand new ones on ebay.....for a hefty markup I might add....

Ya I wouldn't touch those at that price point! There is another chinese re seller on ebay but they are also overpriced. I still overpaid for the 2 minis by a lot with a 450 dollar price point but I am pretty new to this and wanted to dip my toes into it as soon as possible so the premium wasn't an issue for me. Even at that price point it will ROI rather quickly and I think these will remain profitable for a lot longer than say the top bitcoin mining hardware that Bitmain produces.

Why buy a Giant over a Qualdruple?

Giant = 900MHs = $1200 = $1.33 Cost per MHs

Quad = 600MHs = $2400 = $4.00 Cost per MHs

Why not buy 2 Quadruples for $2400 and have 1200MHs?

Actually it is:
Giant = 900 Mh/s = $2380 = $2.644 per Mh/s

Quad = 600 Mh/s = $1200 = $2.0 per Mh/s

With current prices it indeed makes more sense to buy the Quad miner.

Mini miner: http://www.baikalminer.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=466
Quad: http://www.baikalminer.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=467
Giant: http://www.baikalminer.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=468

In fact, if someone was looking to get 900mgs then I think 6xmini's is better buy. 1800usd

But seeing how recent demand for Baikal has sky rocketed, I wouldn't be surprised if Baikal increases the prices back to the old days when they first came out. I hope not, as I plan to purchase more.

are they in stock in any case I missed the group buy are you guys gona open up a new one ?

Hi,

I'd like four pieces individually bought Baikal miner 150 MHS separately.
I'm from Europe.
The price agreed on.
If anyone knows about the European dealer Baikal miner Mhs 150 or A900 Mhs let me please write.
I will be very grateful to him.

There is literally no one that resells Baikalminer that has stock at all, and Baikalminer are out of stock themselves. You can buy the A-900 on Alibaba and ebay (I have seen a few last 48 hours) but at insane markups (like $5k for a A-900) due to the crazy ROI.

No biggy on your markup, I got my mini's back in the day when Baikal was selling them at 500usd a pop. At todays price of 300usd and the swing in DASH/MUE/ADZ/DGC/GEO and if someone is smart and pays attention and switch coins often your looking at an ROI of just over 3 months....This unheard of with Asics. Hence why I'm nervous Baikal is going to increase their pricing. Hopefully Bitawn will be able to get us another group buy...fingers crossed.. Smiley

There is 100% no more discounts on the miners they ship, and I wouldn't be surprised if they increased price by a few $100 shortly if Dash stays above $60. Only reason ROI is so nuts is that there just aren't many ASIC out there. Hell people still GPU mine profitably.

Ditto. If anyone is making an informal count or list

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

Hey @bittawm - I got a mini last time you had a group buy and I'm very glad I did. I only wish I had bought a quad! What a great little cube it is....

Anyway, I am also very interested in buying a quad miner if/when they have more available.

Personally I think that they just saw the Dash price and decided it makes more sense to mine with them than to sell them, so all their stock became a Dash farm, but I would love to be proven wrong and see new ones available.

Crypto currency enthusiast and miner since 2015. Mined approx 200 ETH during 2016 and 2017 and sold it at approximately $US40 each. Then I watched it reach $1000+ each. If anyone bothers to read this stuff pay attention to this: HODL HODL HODL HODL HODL HODL

I started mining with 1 AMD 7950 and 1 R9-280X. Then I gradually built my AMD operation into 12 R9-290s. Awesome ETH hash but ridiculous power consumption and heat. Over the last year I defected to the Nvidia team. I now use GTX 1070s. They were expensive to buy (probably a bargain now) but awesome hash rate vs. power consumption. blah blah blah blah

Can you clarify what you mean by "paralleling them up"?
Are you talking about using the same worker name for multiple rigs, or are you talking about hooking multiple 150MHs miners together to make a single larger miner under a single controller?

I don't like overloading the worker names, because having them separate allows me more flexability to move my hashrate between pools and coins. If I had 9GHs, I could very easily saturate a stratum server if the pool is running on virtual/cloud architecture or just plain junky hardware. I could also easily get orphans that way which is a waste.

If you are talking physical connecting multiple miners under a single controller, there is a more-or-less optimal number of HW miners any given controller can handle without being overworked and possibly running less than optimal. That said, I do like the Quad miners, as it reduces my ethernet port overhead and the number of "rigs" I have to manage, although there is some advanced software capable of handling that, it usually costs money.

I have nothing against the Giant, but you only get 50% more hashrate for almost twice the price. The main benefit is the lower electric cost. My personal opinion is that matters more if you pay a lot for electric, but not as much if your electric rate is low. Since mine is fairly low, the electric savings are goign to have a hard time making up the extra costs. I would rather get 1.5 Quads than a single Giant, but that's my opinion, not a "fact".

Yea i think i meant "combine" or join the miners.

So are you able to create as many "workers" as u like in multiple pools, and distribute the 900MHs amongst them as u please? Or something different...

Im only a week old in cryptocurrency land. Trying to put it all together ahead of time asap ^^"

So sounds like ill need to get a power supply. (Is it just a regular pc psu , with a couple pins that need shorting?)

Is there anything else , thats so obvious to the experienced user that no one mentions it, that i might be missing that ill need?

Oh, how about ur pc specs? Is there a minimum amount of processor speed, ram etc thats required to run the miners?
