Bitmain has had it listed on their Chinese site for a couple days now - and are pricing it in Bitcoin at around $1600 equivilent (then add shipping).

 However, I have yet to see the "add to cart" button work - could be a "preliminary" page that isn't ready for sales for another day or two, or they sold out the initial batch already to "large chinese customers".

Ok, so let me just say the language barrier just SUCKS! 

I am starting to think this guy may be legit on this L3 offer, but I am having a hard time communicating with him.  I will keep you guys posted. 

The price he is quoting me at this time is below the price that Bitmain has posted on their site.  However the details are too thin to get overly excited about this just yet.

Well it looks like we have leaked photos and prices on the internet for the next miner to be released by Bitmain.  The Antminer L3, 250mhs scrypt miner, 400watts at the wall.  

If you can read Chinese you can buy one today from Bitmain's website for 11000 CNY or 1.656 BTC. ($1600 USD)

And the specs do look like they pull only 400w from the APW3-1600.

Given they've just about finished building this new DC https://blog.bitmain.com/en/bitmain-to-set-high-standards-with-state-of-the-art-xinjiang-data-center/,  there goes the BTC/MHs rate again  

Bitmain is a minority owner of space in that DC.

Well I tried to get a deal setup to get some L3's from a factory rep in China.  Sadly I don't see a way to get the deal done and protect the interests of the buyer.  They are offering a really good price, but you have to pay with a wire transfer. 

Frankly there is no way to validate that this person is who they say they are.  I have spoken to other people from the same company through Alibaba regarding the L3's so I assume that is why they tried to reach me outside of Alibaba.  But there is just no way that I can find a way to secure the deal and ensure the buyer won't get taken to the cleaners. 

When I pressed about taking the deal back to Alibaba they tell me it is a 35% price increase due to the fees and related costs of using Alibaba.  So they didn't want to do that.  I tried to find a way we could use a credit card.  He says there is a way to do that, but I couldn't get him to tell me the process to get that done.   

So I finally just had to call it quits and politely say I will wait for Bitmain to offer them for sale.  I will keep everyone posted if something changes, but for right now it looks like the deal is dead.  It is too bad.  It really sounded like a good deal if we could figure out how to get it done and everyone's interests are protected.

no worries, honestly, it seems to me like you handled it the best way you could, and that the only decision you had for community protection was to walk away :/
Those who want the miners ASAP can pay the premium, and snag them from alibaba, but lord knows its gonna be a shitshow anyways between difficulty and price of LTC over next few months.
For once i am happy i heehawed over pulling the trigger on the purchase of an A4, i LOVE my A2's, but now will wait it out for the "dust to settle" personally

Novacoin and Verge are also profitable at times to mine.  The thing you will find interesting if you go out to whattomine.com and look at the ASIC tab, and select SHA256 and Scrypt to compare profitability...  It doesn't take long to draw some interesting conclusions.

I would mine GAME.  Great volumes and actually good potential for a rise in price if you mine and hold.

If you decide to order make sure to let us know how it goes.  If the company is legit they could use some good press here on the forum.  If they are a bad actor it would be good to know that as well.  I am sure a lot of people would be willing to order if they knew if the site was legit.

I am talking with someone in China who says he can get us the L3's at a pretty good cost.  I am pressing him for the details now and will flush out if this is real or not.  If it does turn out to be real I might be crazy enough to try and setup a group buy on these things.  

So let me know if you might be interested, and how many units you would be wanting.  I have no idea on the price yet, but let's just use the mythical number $1600 each plus shipping.  Could be higher, could be lower.  Use that as a planning number for the moment.  Also if we do a large order there will be customs to pay so we have to keep that in mind also.

The deal fell apart.  I couldn't find a way to protect the buyer.  They wanted wire transfer only, and I had no way of validating the person I was speaking with as being from the company he claimed to be.  So I had to terminate the discussion with them. 

I did suggest that they join the forum here and build a reputation.  They would have no issues selling their product directly here once people know them.  I hope they will take that advice.
