I think so too, only coins that survive will really function and help people in real life. For example, a payment system that will work with cryptocurrency and help pay for it in the store.

The only altcoins that will survive are the ones with consensys mechanism built into them. This means mining, staking, delegated staking, etc. And it is quite debatable if their value is going to increase, because all the miners will be dumping the coins on the exchanges and the users just won't hodl, buy buy and use instantly.

In my opinion, I think that the only ones prone to survive would be good old altcoins such as Litecoin and Dogecoin, but I may be wrong.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this as well as any altcoin that might be worth holding onto for the long term. 

I think all the coins that are in the top will survive. Of course many will depreciate in the future, some new coins, more technological ones will come to replace them.

As far as i have experienced the altcoin that has chance to survive in the future is ETH. Let's say ethereum had dipping too much but we know the fact that this is the King of all alts. Most of us knew that when it rise it really dominates the market and there are time also that it has a very long jump that reach so high.
