So...

We've got an unresponsive group buy leader, whose sample chips still haven't arrived (even though other group buys have had sample chips for weeks), who was supposed to be running an assembly service whose website account is now suspended, who is moving to a new location of which the escrow service is unaware.

Tell me again why I shouldn't be a little sketched out?

+1

I practically want to vote a new group buy organizer if possible.

I thought about that myself.
If he has personal family stuff going on, he should concentrate on that first and foremost.

Also waiting on a reply to email/pm from raging.. avalon chips have begun shipping, zefir batch #1 for starters.  my hunch is there will be very little window between them even if ordered weeks later.  TSMC doesn't do small batches.  they probably came together.

need to send my chips to burnin personally..

He's been real busy with the knc group buys, and that looks like some serious work keeping track of that now and especially once he has to divy up the mined coins

I think his PM box is probably stuffed.  Hopefully he'll just jump in this thread and give us all a heads up

Again... were just need a little heads up form him as soon as his family situation is cleared up. In terms of builds etc issues with the PICs for Klondikes are going to be an issue so check before you leap into other builders to see if they have the BOM completed as there could be long delays. Check BKKCoins thread for that info. I think there could be a real mess of problems for those that haven't secured some key components on the BOM.

Is anyone in Raginazin's region that can help oversee this situation if necessary step up?

It's sad that this is falling by the way side. The KNC group buys seem to be the Flavour of the Month ... hopefully the same doesn't happen in the group buys.

Terrahash started accepting reservations for assembly today on their site. I reserved one of their K64 boards, if anyone else is still looking for assembly options. I still have 6 chips I'm trying to get into K1 units as USB-miner gifts for friends, anyone know of a good place doing K1's?

Hopefully we can at least get Raging to update his new shipping address with JohnK, if needed. I hope that happens soon!

Just for posterity, I need 64 of my chips sent to Terrahash:

1800 Wyatt Drive,
Suite 15
Santa Clara, CA 95054
USA

In my care, with 6 being split off to either myself or a K1 assembler. I'll have to pay extra shipping, I guess.

Cheers, all

OP hasn't logged in for 8 days and isn't replying to clients.  What can we do but wait?  The excuses and delays in communication have been consistent in the last several weeks from building home, packing, moving, family issues.  I don't doubt that some or all of these events have consumed his time, but the trend is disturbing and priorities are not in alignment with the collective investment we've made.

At what point (if at all) do we move to change the group leader and the person who distributes the chips? I feel like we should at least have a plan in place if chips ship and we still haven't heard anything. I don't even know if it's possible logistically. For instance, are the chips due to ship straight to Ragin or John first? Is it even possible to change the shipping address to someone else (like ryepdx, for example) to then distribute the chips? I don't want to have to go this route but it may be prudent to have a backup plan in place instead of having to scramble at the last minute.

Thanks Bicknellski. Not sure I'd want to send just 6 chips to SE Asia for assembly. These 6 chips will make it around the world 1.5 times if I do that, which seems crazy. I'll likely hold out for a North American assembler who wants to bother with K1s.

There must be someone in North America... I guess I could just fab up a half-dozen K1's on my own now that the Klondike boards are finalized.

Check Stumptown I guess.

Again to do a leader change we need to work with Ragin on that and John K. We would need a person we agree on that can get to the shipping location.

Check Stumptown I guess.

It's too late in the game for me to put anything together in a timely manner, especially with the component shortages, but I might be willing to put together another assembly run if there's interest, and if everyone understands that it's going to take much, much longer for the miners in the second run to come together than it will for the miners in the first one.

I saw my name mentioned earlier. I'd be willing, if voted into that office (so to speak).

I have not decided on an assembler yet - any suggestion / link? I have 70 chips in this order - based in the US/Cal.

Pierrejo, check terrahash.com.

I say we give Raging until Monday to show up and confirm his new shipping address and give us a good faith response. I'm fine with Ryepdx as a shipping pass-through, also.

Works for me Ryepdx if you are volunteering I am voting for you... maybe even if someone is there on shipping day to oversee everything even. But ya replacement needs to have Ragingazin, JohnK blessings as well as all those in the order.

Ryepdx has got my vote. And I don't see the point in waiting any longer. I would like to move on this BEFORE our order ships, which may be several days before they get to their bulk destination.  I'm sorry, but Monday feels like too much time for me.  The OP hasn't been in the picture for (about) 2 weeks, and his involvement in this thread has been sparse for a while now (though not that I'm one to talk)

I'm vested here and in Stumptown's venture and have followed both threads since the beginning.  Ryepdx has just put so much more effort.  I can't really fault Ragingasn628, as I don't know his situation, but the comfort is just not there.  I hope the best for him.  He has shown a lot of enthusiasm for the community, but obviously has other more pressing priorities right now.

Ryepdx would be ok with me.  My concern is logistics.  If Raging is receiving the chips, how does this work?  Can Avalon orders have their shipping address changed?
