One more thing to Bassclef: how many chips do you have total? the original spreadsheet is incorrect it seems. Sorry about that. I meant to post this before. Please update it with correct info using the links provided. 70 chips from Todamont https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177994.msg2858646#msg285864640 chips from Enigma81 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177994.msg2874356#msg2874356540 from Bicknellski https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177994.msg2894996#msg2894996170 from Egon https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177994.msg2937894#msg2937894And 95 from my original order for a total of 915 chips. I have parts and boards ordered for many K16s, most of which I obtained at bulk prices and most non-refundable. I'm also not paying for assembly, which by my calculations is nearly 50% of the cost (maybe a bit less, I don't have the numbers in front of me now, but it's significant and part of the reason I chose to build them locally). So regarding ROI I'm more insulated than most. If I knew there existed a certainty that I could pick up cheaper chips on the second hand market I'd vote yes for a refund, no problem. The problem is that I don't know if Yifu will offer them to the public or simply sell the excess inventory out the back door. And he's offering refunds for all orders before June 1st, so anyone in their right mind won't sell an early order here for half price if they can get a full refund. If the later orders then end up arriving earlier, the question is which orders (not all were forum group buys) and who will sell them where, and do I want to devote time to scouring forum/sites everyday to catch them if/when the opportunity does arise to buy over 900 chips. Uncertainty. That leaves the group buy and assembly coordinators, who will use early chip batches to fill existing orders. However, only if a large percentage of their customers choose to refund will they have excess chips to sell, and if so, when? More uncertainty. For these reasons I'll be voting no on the refund option. I do have another large chip order with Steamboat batch one, so not all is lost if the majority here vote to refund (which seems imminent). No hard feelings, I would have done the same if I'd paid for assembly, especially with the BTC price increase. (As a side note, a hard-to-find part for the K16, IR3895 buck regulator, just quickly and unexpectedly went in then out of stock at Arrow to the tune of multiple reels. So people are still building these, just not anyone here.) Well said bassclef! These are exactly the reason why I don't want to try for a refund. 182 chips for no refund

I have 36 chips and vote refund. I too paid for parts on two K16 but at this point would consider that a donation to ryepdx or at the least consignment sell if he finds someone else that can use it
We are not getting chips here
For those sticking through maybe you can work with other group buys during this exodus. Avalon needs put their cards on the table and deal with the results
What I am saying is Avalon should refund everyone and then make a new group buy for anyone still sticking through (or carry over those folks to a new shipment)
The wheels are off this wagon

John. k has pmed me stating that he is OK to refund if the vote goes through. I'm arbitrarily setting a date of september 6th 00:00 GMT for votes, at which point, majority of votes wins. anyone have anything against this? it is a pickle we are in. We don't want to hold hostage the ones that want a refund, but we also don't want to throw away the diehard's place in the queue Can Yufi consolidate the unshipped groupbuys so the ones that want refunds get out and then the ones that still want chips are carried over to less group buy shipments so they MAY actually happen then? that would be a win/win but probably a fairy tale too

So people are still building these, just not anyone here.) I'm sure you've done your calcs, but by my simple calcs, even for the cost of the chips there is no ROI in this anymore, and you get the cost of the chips back if you refund. Therefore from a financial perspective, it's a no-brainer as far as I can tell. You get more coins by requesting a refund than you will by mining with built boards, even if assembly is a "sunk cost". And that ignores the distribution risk (will the chips be distributed promptly to the right people?) and the risk of any further delays from bitsyncom... Having said that, I do understand that a couple of users want to do this project despite the negative ROI because, quite frankly, their hearts are in it, and it will be fun. I get that, and it's a fair reason. But for the ROI, I'm afraid the value prop is shot at this stage.

if we get it all back as btc (as we should) we at least make on the rise (if refunded soon)
my refund of 36 chips would then pay for my 2 PSUs for my incoming Jupiters

I'm gonna throw in the towel; I change my vote to refund. I haven't paid for assembly yet on these chips so it doesn't make sense to hold out any longer.

SebastianJu reported this morning that his May 11 order status changed to "prepare shipping."
I'd like to know the status of ours since it was ordered on April 27th. Any change John?

It looks like zefir's earlier batches also had their status changed. There's a very good chance that this group buys order status has also changed. Since zefirs orders are earlier then ours and sebastianju's are after our order. Here's hoping to light at the end of the tunnel!

256 chips abstain from voting. My chips are split with bitrocket. Abstaining reflects our average sentiment. (actually it's closer to refund, but this poll may prove moot in any case)

Please be careful when issuing the refunds as some of the chips have been sold/transfered to other people.

I'm fine with it taking as long as reasonably necessary to process the refunds to me (in order to take time make sure everybody gets the correct refunds for any chips that changed ownership), but we need to get the refund from Yifu to JohnK processed ASAP, before Yifu disappears again!
