...How else would they need so many weapons. I don't have any, because I am right.

My mother always told me there was no point in being dead right.  I've found it to be good advice, on the whole.  Be careful out there   Wink

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Building Quality Markets for Digital Currencies

A secure, state-of-the-art exchange platform built by Wall Street veterans for transacting digital currencies

Powered by a platform deployed by some of Wall Street's largest proprietary trading firms and institutions

The exchange central book matches orders based on price/time priority. No fees to transfer money in and out.

two-factor authentication, cold storage of crypto-currency, multi-tiered multi-firewall architecture

Forget about centralized exchanges, problems with legislation or trust are always going to come up. Nxt has a decentralized Asset Exchange running, and this is surely the future.

how does a decentralized exchange work for transactions involving fiat? surely there must be a central party that holds the fiat. it seems that fiat transactions demand a level of trust.

Funny, since the rally began, the price stops increasing for a few hours, every day, around 03:00 am China time.   How weird.
I speculate subconsciously there are algorithms at play, if you read enough and take note of the diapering posts, you get a feel for the magic maths that makes bitcoin work.

i'm just saying that we could get a 61.8% or 78.6% retrace of the uptrend to 445-470 area. and if that happened we could still be in a bull trend. (if it stops there....)

planning on an uptrend never having a correction has never worked out in my book Tongue

even if you are a large, old and successful business, you don't mess with the US government. Pokerstars is a billion dollar business but still not legit in USA, and Bitstamp could totally have its Black Friday considering that legit US exchanges are about to open and they are an "unfair" competitor.

Yes, why would anybody mess up with the entity that has more firepower than the rest of the world combined.. Huh

But wait a minute, they must be very unbelievably scared of us. How else would they need so many weapons. I don't have any, because I am right.

Right is not Might - just to flip some Medieval reasoning on you Smiley

there will be fiat assets on it but they will be issued by a central party id say. bitcoin <> fiat exchanges will be getting better and better and more reliable over time... theres a nxt <> fiat exchange going into beta very soon which includes a point of sale system also. id say they will issue assets. seems a very serious company! i can very easily see the nxt AE having more daily volume for btc <> alts and crypto <> fiat then any other trading platform by the end of 2014. it wont be hindered by transaction times ether due to instantdex(allows high speed trading and only fees when a trade is made!)

oh ya.. not to mention forex trading.. i think

3) What could in principle be an actual problem of gox-ian proportions if they would require proof that users can't reasonably provide. So far, after having read mentions of the KYC procedure around 40 times (my ballpark guess) in the past months, I have /today/ heard the first time of unnecessary proof being required (in the reddit thread). That's 1 out of 40 cases (from my own perspective) and it doesn't exactly make me jump to the conclusion that Bitstamp asks for this regularly now.

Gox accomplished exactly what you're saying in this point also by repeatedly rejecting totally valid documents for verification until harassing customer service back and forth, then later on switching their verification procedure to involve actually mailing physical documents to their Tokyo offices.
