oh no - people who don't obey the local regulations get shut down..........
Not coins stolen, not fraud, simply France has rules about how to run a bitcoin exchange and they broke them - thus they got arrested.
Bitcoin not illegal!
Running a bitcoin exchange without ACPR approval - illegal.
Bitcoin going mainstream.

ACPR declared the need for licenses back on 29th January

http://acpr.banque-france.fr/fileadmin/user_upload/acp/publications/registre-officiel/201401-Position-2014-P-01-de-l-ACPR.pdf

they gave them five months to work it out.

I have yet to see a license form bitfinex are the next?

since when are bitfinex domiciled in France?
Where else?

British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong - Bifinex is owned and operated by  iFinex Inc. (Bvi), prior to that their registered address was in Hong Kong, which is where they are still operated from. If you are going to spread shite try and ground some of it in reality.

Yes, i'm curious too ...

By the way:
https://who.is/whois/bitfinex.com

And if you wonder about iFinex:

Quote
iFinex Inc's address:
room 1601, 16th Floor, The Sun’s Group Centre, 200 Gloucester Road, Hong Kong

EDIT: In case the address field (from the bank form) is too long for the whole address, use this shortened version:
room 1601, The Sun Group Centre, 200 Gloucester Road
Hong Kong

lol, its a virtual office address, same as all the other hong kong exchanges which run away  (GBL, 796, mycoin, ANX.....), basically if you deal with a hong kong registered exchange you deserve to get goxed
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg7587006#msg7587006

Raphael, giancarlo look genuine hong kong names. Until proven otherwise bitfinex is operated out of a garage in southern France (Nice) next to the Italian border

Room 1601, 16th Floor, The Sun's Group Centre, 200 Gloucester Rd, Hong Kong (hello wakey, wakey)

so next bubble will be lead by terrorists buying all the coins?

I expect the price of rugs to plummet as terrorists switch to Bitcoin.

I always use Persian rugs when funding terrorist ventures, but I may switch to JihadCoinTM if it becomes less volatile Smiley

I expect the price of rugs to plummet as terrorists switch to Bitcoin.

I expect a direct donkey/persian rug correlation - probably a good time to go short on donkeys.

(Donkeys will recover long term though because=Opium  Cheesy Cheesy)

Today is the first day in awhile that BTC is down slightly, while LTC is up.   It has been vice versa for the last month or so...

Try to log in, says wrong password. Try password reset, says wrong email. Made a test account. Doesn't llook like you can change yur account email, so a hacker couldn't have done it. IDK wtf is going on, pretty worried.

I wouldn't be surprised if we touch 600 shortly, but I think after the next 3 months we will hit ATH

I think the only thing everyone is waiting on is Mr. Lawsky and his team. And of course the SEC.

600 getting closer..

What was the name of the exchange that got closed in France? It seems to be a state secret... none of the press articles mention it.

We've seen this before... it looks like the market will slowly bleed down today and should be testing $600 yet again by Monday or Tuesday. I expect the next few days to be quite boring.

I hate it when I'm right.

I'm starting to give more thought to the idea that we've already seen the "2014 summer bubble" in the run up to $680 in May. So basically, we failed to launch, and 2014 is going to be a very boring, disappointing year.
