Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

We've seen this before... it looks like the market will slowly bleed down today and should be testing $600 yet again by Monday or Tuesday. I expect the next few days to be quite boring.

I hate it when I'm right.

I'm starting to give more thought to the idea that we've already seen the "2014 summer bubble" in the run up to $680 in May. So basically, we failed to launch, and 2014 is going to be a very boring, disappointing year.

There should be support at $595 or thereabouts, but I almost can't believe it will go that far. Let's see...

I shorted at $660 but closed it at $645. I'm bit annoyed with that Smiley

Sorry to break the party, but there is too much optimism/bulls in here.. Roll Eyes
Terrorist using BTC = Bad Image for Btc.
It will be a good excuse to impose stiff control by govts/banks on VC exchanges/services.

More bad news for Goxers:
www.coindesk.com/leak-documents-suggest-mt-gox-paid-200k-parent-company-may/

In other alarming news, the documents, if genuine, reveal Mt. Gox’s remaining funds total only $7.6m – significantly less than the $38m in assets claimed in its bankruptcy application.

The reasons why I am skeptical of bitcoin apply to all cryptocoins.

For one thing, if one day it may look like like they may succeed in their goal -- bypassing government controls on money flow and supply --, then governments will surely ban them.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/global-jihad-could-funded-bitcoin-105333920.html

The US Department of Defense is currently conducting a counter-terrorism investigation of virtual currencies like bitcoin.

More lows to come i'm afraid.

I think you are overreacting, pretty weak dumps so far.

Also like the idea of creating muhammadCoin and relocating all the terrorists there.

Governments do not have control of money flow and supply.  Banks do.
