I've been thinking, and it seems the bitcoin market is really really hyped up, but bitcoin's actual uses: a small pool of gamblers and addicts. That is it. Until it is used for real buying and selling (which it is not in the least bit) I think the price could go to as low as $20-$50.

+1

Xiaoxiao thought bitcoin was overpriced at 2 dollars and is currently short.

I don't care. He's right: bitcoin is almost pure speculative currency and main non-speculative usage is buying drugs.

This is great method of payments not only to dark markets but to local dealer (smart dealers accepting not fiats but only btc:)

Wait, after some digging I think this entire article from January is a piece of crap that confuses Burt Wagner with Bruce Wagner. The one arrested was Burt Wagner but the information in the article including the picture points to Bruce Wagner. It could be they are the same person but it's probably more likely this is simply an example of very poor journalism. Unless someone knows more than I do.

Extra, Extra, Read All About it!  Bitcoin Bankrupt!
Quote
Everyone has the right to know the truth:
The Foundation has almost no money left, and just fired 90% of its people. Some will stay on as volunteers.
Core dev can no longer be funded by it, and Patrick Murck is trying to re-create a new Foundation just for core dev, because the current name is tarnished. Do not fall for this.
The current Executive Director (Patrick Murck), will be gone in 2 weeks, and they are trying to find the next person to blame everything on.
Jim Harper was threatened for doing a press release which was (barely) critical of the Foundation after he got elected. The Foundation tries to make sure we hide the truth by subtly threatening us on a regular basis.
If I get asked to leave the Foundation for telling the truth, so be it. The truth is being told.

hmmm ... sounds like some early adopter whales are gonna have to pony up if they want the bitcoin foundation to continue to exist ... but seems to me that most nobody wants or needs there to be a bitcoin foundation ... the core devs should simply be paid directly in btc on a work for donation basis , which would likely still be extremely profitable for them , maybe even more so without the bloat of the foundation holding them back / wasting their funding ...

- No legislation on firearms. (They exist to keep the government in control, so the government has amassed more weapons that the entire rest of the world to keep its own citizens in control

I thought the whole idea of the right to bear arms in the US (at least according to Thomas Jefferson) was to maintain a militia specifically to keep the government from getting too big for its britches.

It wasn't so that rednecks could shoot trespassers. It was to shoot soldiers of a corrupt government.

Unfortunately that seems lost now.  It's now illegal to possess the kind of weaponry that will put up any real resistance against modern military arms. Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight. How about bringing a hunting rifle to modern warfare?

I'm a little older than you and was a child of the post-WW2 era, but I'm sure as a Finn you heard stories of bravery against Stalin's Russia. When you live in the shadow of the kind of regime that annihilates dissidence and imprisons its own citizenry wholesale, it gets a tad scary.

No worries, if needed the citizens will just 3d print FA assault rifles and rocket launchers in the basement.  Not sure how they would 3d print tanks though.  Cheesy

One time I'm short, one long, one full fiat one full btc but what i think and i know about bitcoin as a pure speculation doesn't changing.

Bitcoin = speculation 99% and 0.9% darkmarkets/drugs/gambling and 0.1% another usage, only fool can't see it imo.

The gold market is 99% speculation and 1% jewelry and computer parts. So what?

And it does matter because you are just talking your book. Because when you are long you will spout an opposing opinion without believing it. That is important because boiled down it means no one can trust or believe a word coming out of your mouth. Smiley

I know, shocking isn't it... and Inca of all people telling you this lol (who else ??!)

While he likes to point out that shorts are increasing (its about all he ever does), which is true, that is far from the whole story

In the last month shorts on BFX are up $2m
Longs are up by $5m in the same period
The market has been falling
Meanwhile leveraged longs are up to a record high that is double what we saw in July in BTC terms

Jorge ... can we do some maths here ? Where is the pain ?

Meanwhile we wait for Barry 'just another couple of weeks' Hypemaster Shillbert to save us and open the flood gates of 'Wall Street money' (which was supposed to be coming in all of last year IIRC)
Its looking good though ... so far there are bids for 70BTC on the 'ETF' whilst they overcome the 'delay' in getting certificates to permitted sellers   Roll Eyes. Are they using actual snails for the delivery of certificates?
I am sure everything is fine though and we will moon as soon as Barry gets his act together and provides us with a highly liquid investment vehicle <cough cough> that 'Wall Street' just can't wait to get it's hand on ...

Keep praying and preaching about the 'epic short squeeze' Inca, one day you might actually get it right  Wink

Smiley

I make it 4 million USD versus 2.75 million shorts but who is counting?

In any case the long interest has always outweighed the short interest on finex. It is a curious situation but i think the fact you can go long with BTC is the likely explanation.

Edit: you are right on the numbers actually..Smiley
