My guess is they're the USD portal for all the money escaping from China.

Possibly - I've heard that said before in these parts. Personally I find it hard to believe that the Chinese are willing to take such an instananeous hit to their wealth.

Could be that the Chinese are carrying this market and that we are the laggards (not us personally of course - but nationally)
Inflation and currency manipulation is a bitch. Like, the worst kind.

I hear venezuela has 500% inflation. Not hard to figure out, just hard to understand having never lived under such conditions.

I'm reading all these posts to my wife and explaining what's happening. Guess what? She's shows no interest as usual just like the general public.

I suppose she is sick of listening to it all from me for the past few years.

Don't worry!
In a few years when Bitcoin may be worth a shit ton of money she will hang on your lips and listen very closely to almost everything you're saying! Cheesy
Or more likely split and take half, plus part of future earnings.

Ok ok, let's not go down that road please!

Don't worry.
You can ditch this one and get a new, younger, firmer one when bitcoin goes to the moon. (Sorry, couldn't resist).

I think you can find a hot millennial that is tech savvy and be some competition for you, cuz you know.. it will make you better!  Grin

Keep the ball rolling!!..  Cheesy Cheesy

Agreed - but wouldn't you use BTC as a hedge - rather than cashing out into $ at an immediate and substantial loss ? When, after all, you live in China/Venezeula etc.

I'm seeing 937 where is this 1000? I'm no trader and don't look at btc charts or exchanges. Does 1000 look possible in the next 24 hours? Is it critical?

Surely 10k is realistic in the future? That's always been my target. Even then, selling may not even be necessary.

At the very least an exchange to a different cryptocurrency will likely be necessary.  It is doubtful that BTC will be able to handle enough transaction volume to become a widely used transactional currency.  BTC's primary role will be store of value and settlement.  Less secure networks will be used for small value transactions due to lower fees.

trying to compare the data from 2013.

there seems to just be generally less volume on exchanges. even taking into account the more expensive price, are there just way more exchanges now that are spreading the volume out?

edit: where we are at now most reminds me of Oct 29th 2013 which would suggest we were about to go absolutely mental over the next month which is possible.

my only qualm is that the late 2013 bubble is the one i have the least faith in. people were buying coins because they couldn't get cash out of MtGox any other way.

stats would really help here.

what you all think?

The secret sauce is that the main rally has not begun yet. The volume will come.
