Call me crazy or dumb...but I am starting to have a desire of shorting BTC at these levels...
about $4k would be safer.. .. $2400 might be possible too... but depends on whether we get there in 2 weeks or in 2 days? If we get to $2400 in 2 days, then maybe it would be safe to short at that point? I would not do it, but I am too chicken shit, so far, to short bitcoin.

Fees are getting stupid. Just paid about 5 bucks for a transfer, as suggested by my wallet.
Got another transfer with about a bucks worth of fees that has been stuck for a few days now. It's absurd.

Maybe that's why the price of bitcoin is going up - so that people can afford the fees!

Yes, and exactly this was promised a year ago at least.

The question is that bitcoin is not the only coin that is rising, the main altcoins are having huge rises as well, it seems as if it was the big party of the cryptocoin and nobody would want to miss their piece of cake. This doesn´t seem to be a momentary hype but something that has come to stay. And this taking into account that there is still a way to go in terms of adopting bitcoin and solving its scalability problems.

Shorting bitcoin is kind of like choosing to play russian roulette. Sure it is possible to "win" but is it really that good of an idea to play at all.

Wallet software fail probably. First block inclusion is at around 1.2$ right now. https://bitcoinfees.21.co/The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 270 satoshis/byte, shown in green at the top. For the median transaction size of 226 bytes, this results in a fee of 61,020 satoshis.

I had to put 2mbtc of fee to have the software let me process the transaction. It's a bit absurd to pay about 4$ of fees everytime you want to make a transaction ><

Slightly too late. There is a beautiful correction starting right now. I'd say we'll pass the 2k then it's time to long again. The rise won't be stopped

I assume that different wallets connect to different pools so maybe that could make a difference, but nonetheless this is the current reality.

It was probably oversized tx in terms of bytes (like 2-3 inputs) so the fee per byte was lower (hence lower priority).

Sold my btc when I saw that. Don't know what's happening and don't care. But this shit is really too messy I'm half out Anyway if it's really like the moon half btc will be enough to get a retirement, and if it's dumping too hard I'm buying back at 1900

It's not much to do with what fees you pay in total but what fees you pay per byte. Still, it's not like everyone can expect to be paying the same amount they receive all the time. Imagine a future reality in which you can choose to deal in Bitcoin for most things - what would happen to people like convenience store merchants who accept a lot of small payments? They'd have to exchange their Bitcoin to fiat all the time.
