Once bitcoin was out of the bear run (transitioned into a bull run), we can still use the approximate $250 price stability point of 2015 as our starting reference.  Accordingly, it took about a year to triple to $750-ish, and then it took about 9 more months to triple again to $2,500-ish.. .and then it took about 3 months to triple again to $7,500-ish....

Funny, but I've been making this graph, to show how last 5 doubling events since $250 look like two distinct exponents:

270 days
270 days
90 days
90 days
90 days

The question is, how much longer the second exponent will last...

This graph seems to fit in the theory about the market manipulations by the "Tether Gang"
Quote
The article argues tether was stable throughout 2016 and did not start to increase until March 2017. Tether’s value seemed to take off along with Bitcoin’s dramatic rise.

I have some feeling like as long as the Tetherbubble does not bother the US treasury or they get some cash-out problems by a falling bitcoin price.
The second is easy to prevent with unlimited funds (though it might get implausible if they exaggerate it) but they also get in the way of the plans of the "Bitcoin Cash Gang" to crash BTC.

I can already imagine Hollywood making a movie about this all ...  Grin

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Is there a light wallet for bitcoin gold? I don't want to use a mobile wallet, I want it on desktop. But not with full blockchain.

No. I've searched for it for a few hours before I gave up and finally installed Coinomi on mobile, otherwise I couldn't dump those damn coins.

Electron Gold is very likely a scam, not like Electron Cash that was legit.

None of I know of.
But there is a "bootstrap" file  to download to speed up the full chain thing. Took hours to do so though.

If I've got the cash and the bitcoin to make a purchase, I will do it in bitcoin and simply replace it immediately or just buy enough coin to cover the cost of my purchase.  At least someone will benefit and I'm doing my part to support the ecosystem. Win Win

Yep, this is the way to do it.

Only times are when you can't easily replace the bitcoin right away, like liquidating for a big purchase or big down payment on something. Or you have to live off of it. That stings. And it should sting a little. It makes you a better money manager and saver.

Speaking of which, meeting with our money manager dude in May to discuss our finances, investments, and how I can use my existing BTC to allow for early retirement in late 2018. Partner will continue to work for a few more years.

I'm torn on how to divest my BTC for this early retirement purpose. My partner is strongly suggesting I divest several millions in one chunk towards institutional investing - guaranteeing I have the cash on hand until I can draw down on retirement funds at age 65.

I'm thinking it may be more wise to sell "smaller chunks" of BTC to last me a year-at-a-time instead - owing to the increasing value of BTC/USD.

Will figure something out.

I would go with your second option Bob. Seems BTC has done well for you and it would be a shame to cash it all in after it has treated you so well.
Besides, institutional investing? Hell what the hell do they know right?

Agree. Finally saw a short video today by a self-made multimillionaire investor who speaks the absolute truth. He is dead on. Wish I had been given this advice when I was younger and in my 20s.

I wonder if this is the last roger/wu pump? . A guy could be making serious coin here if they keep it up. The volume spike at the start of the pump is so obvious. You would get the double whammy of btc dropping while bcash rises. Its just a matter of timing the exit but even if you get it wrong you are just back to break even.

On reflection though, I wonder if this is what they are banking on? . The next time, all they need to do is kick start the pump and the whales will jump on board and feed the pump for them. Easy profit then for them.

On a side note. roger/wu must have a shitload of bcash built up from their mining operations at this stage which they obviously are not selling as they seek to increase the price
Only for as long as people keep playing along. This could change very quickly and leave many with burnt hands.
