Operation: Bring Them Home - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

It has been a very long time since I had full custody of all my Bitcoins. Well 99.9% of them.

Still waiting on a small amount to be reactivated at BitFinex, withdrawal frozen for 5 days due to activation of LN-Bitcoin. Will send this directly to my LN Node

And a small DCA amount at my local exchange (the bulk has come home – read below) and yes there was a wee bit more than I should have had on there….

My problem started on 28th October, that really drummed the #NYKNYC home.

The local exchange I used here, been using their services since 2014. It had been 3 months since I had last logged in. I thought now would be a good time to setup some buy ladders and when I went to login, my account was locked out for some unknown reason.

Message was to contact support. Naturally I sent a support request and thought maybe I would get a reply in a few hours. A few hours went by, and not response, replied to the automated email, and waited and waited. Started to get a little worried. So I thought, I’ll call them, only to find there isn’t a phone number anymore. Remembered, I had an OTC Reps mobile number, rang it, and it was disconnected.

Alarms bells started going off! I googled and checked for any news about this exchange, there wasn’t anything alarming, but I still wasn’t happy with the lack of communications. I found their registered address and google street viewed them, only to find it was a mailing forwarding front. (Found out later it was to protect them. Due to scammers, they have been targets of death threats etc)

More hours spent trying to track employees and owners and their contact emails or phone numbers… no luck! I had names and emails (that bounced back, they must not allow external comms) but no active phone or mobile numbers…

I finally got a reply to the support query, this was 5 mins before close of business Friday, saying they locked my account because of suspicious activities and to request a call from one of their KYC Support Team.

WTF?.. ok I’ll play along, booked the next available time, 9:30am Monday, I waited and waited, no calls, no reply, no comms. Rebooked for 2pm and finally a call from a private number. Back and forth proving who I was and what I do, and I also made sure they were who they are and that we both were not trying to scam each other.

Found out they halted my account because I accidentally pressed on increase my deposit limit! They wanted to know why I wanted to increase my limit!.... and that they had locked it back in July, over three months ago! never bothered to contact me about it!..

Got back into my account and that was when Operation: Bring Them Home commenced!

Start generating new cold wallets. Logged and planned for the retrieval of all the outstanding SATs I had on of mining pools and exchanges I once traded my BCH/BTG and other shitty airdrops.

Then FTX happened!....

If it is one thing you get out of this whole FTX saga, I really hope it is #NYKNYC.

This must be ingrained in everyone Bitcoin Accumulation Strategy. BRING THEM HOME!

Hm?  You do not want to name the exchange?   Sometimes we should be naming the exchanges, and hopefully other folks do not end up NOT being able to withdraw.. even though you got yours out.

I imagine that you want to be able to have options, and personally, part of the reasojn that I keep some coins on exchanges is to have options... but yeah, at some point, maybe our options are going to dry up.. but we seem to be "no where close" to having any kind of Bitcoin circular economy yet, so part of my own reasons of having had ongoingly supported exchanges, has been to support that these kinds of services are available.. and of course, none of us want to be rug pulled in our own exchange(s).

I am hoping that the exodus of coins is inspiring various exchanges and third parties to strive towards becoming more responsible with customer funds and more responsive towards appreciating that customers are using their services rather than perhaps feeling like they have to go out of business.

from a shitcoiner wannabe /  bitcoin naysayer.
because I pointed out that Saylor's tweets are silly and nobody outside of a small circle respects him I'm now a "bitcoin naysayer?"

Yep. That b called Koreck.

none of what I wrote had anything to do with bitcoin per se, just Saylor. his tweets make him look like a ridiculous person. do you require further examples?

Nope.. Don't need any further examples or your seeming hate or might we categorize it as lack of an ability to appreciate the efforts of someone who is actually attempting to generally help the bitcoin space.. to the extent that bitcoin gives any shits about the efforts of one person, his company and/or other resources that he might have.

lol u r big mad.  Cheesy

Sure.. you are entitled to your opinion.. .. but you seem to have your own issues too.. and of course, I do not follow all of your stuff, so I ONLY know some of the things that I see from you.. which surely, I see "issues"

... issues.. yes, issues.

hahahahaha

I had known over the past several days that I could use some FIAT$ (reasons), but the price having dropped made me unwilling to act (sell BTC).  Until today.  In the Ol' American Spirit of "Shoot first and ask questions later" I decided to sell a piece of my stash, albeit at a worse price than I had seen last week.

I sold as early as I could this AM (hey, not an early riser), paid a high tx-fee (before the mempool loaded itself up) and requested payment by T/T.  The wire went out this afternoon, I'll check at my bank tomorrow re arrival of funds.  It should not be a problem.

The exchange I use is Gemini.  Who has treated me well over the past 18 or so months (thx again to Lawyer Bob for his positive comments re Gemini).

Hey just because I sold some earlier does not mean I am clever or smart.

The mining business is a brutal fucking grind. I was a gear head when I found BTC
Frankly I wished I simply did DCA from May 2011 to now as I would be richer than I will ever be. But that's water under the bridge.

A for the mine we are still solvent but hurting.

looks like we are heading for 15.9 again

I would love to see a true dump say 7-9k.

69k down to 7k is 90%

maybe by thanksgiving.
Only a person with no any significant btc, like yourself,  would love it.
That, and you're are pulling your numbers out of air.
Why 90% and not 89 or 95%?
I sold off most of my coins months ago.

Was mocked here for a cash and bond position. Now I will do okay with btc dropping.

It is not like I did not share this opinion before this crash.

Seems a bit early to be counting your chickens.

Furthermore, you deserve to be mocked....

I know that you would like to say, "I told you so," but you are not likely in as great of a position as you are making yourself out to be.. but hey, ONLY you really know your position, which is a product of both finances and psychology.. so you "should" be in the best place to judge what is best for ur lil selfie.. and BTC price performance is ONLY one of the individual factors that should be accounted when figuring out position size and also various other trading and/or HODLing strategies.

You should know these kinds of things already, instead of ongoingly wanting to come into the thread and to show how you were "right" about some quasi-absolutist assertion(s) that you made.

You got that right.   Tongue

The mining business is a brutal fucking grind. I was a gear head when I found BTC

True.. just $10 per week (saved or set aside into bitcoin - whether a miner or anyone) would have done wonders going back until more than 11 years ago... but yeah.. you cannot go back, and you can ONLY do what you believe is best for yourself at this particular time based on how you perceive each and every of your circumstances including but not limited to your cashflow, other investments, view of bitcoin as compared with other investments, timeline, risk tolerance, and time, skills, goals (investment/lifestyle targets) and abilities to strategize, plan, research and learn along the way including tweaking strategies from time to time to consider trading, reallocating, use of leverage and/or financial instruments.

Each of us should be attempting to consider each of these circumstances to the best of our ability based on the information that we have in front of us and any further studying and/or looking into the matters that we are able to do.. in the event that we need to get some improved information, logic and/or conclusions in regards to our own particular matters.

A for the mine we are still solvent but hurting.

Currently, a lot of miners are struggling, and it seems the more competitive ones are cranking up their hashrate (maybe on purpose - maybe not).. so there can be a question about which ones (surely not all miners) are going to be able to continue to survive with such ongoing price and/or efficiencies and/or staying power pressures (and maybe a bit of luck, too?  perhaps?).

SBF's twitter account's probably been hacked.

https://u.today/ftxs-sam-bankman-fried-starts-posting-mysterious-tweets

Quote
It seems like the Twitter account of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried has been compromised.

About an hour ago, the account posted the word “What,” which was followed by another tweet with the letter “F.”

Twitter users started posting low-quality jokes and memes en masse in response to the mysterious tweets.

His tweets now read "WHAT HAPPEN".

https://twitter.com/SBF_FTX/status/1591989554881658880

Here's one of the memes people are posting. It's a bit rude.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FhfiJpIaAAAEAWV?format=jpg&name=small

Here's a few that aren't so rude.

Nope.

More nefarious than that.

He's deleting old Tweets, and posting new lame shit to keep his post-count the same, to thwart archival bots.
