don't underestimate a man with a plan, if he managed to grab 18K bitcoins he can manage to wash them clean
A man, a plan... a canal -- Panama!

Someone has stolen some bitcoins from someone else!

This makes bitcoins worth less how exactly?

You know, Bitcoin.  The sound money store of value that eliminates third-party risks?
1.  Loses three quarters of its value.
2.  The part that's left gets pwnt by third party Sad

1. 1 BTC still worth 1 BTC.
2. Bitcoins transffered to an exchange are not yours.

you guys lose money first on mt.gox, than you lose money second time on stamp, how many more times you need to lose money to learn that online exchanges are scam to take out your money? you can quote me on next exchange scam.

Is this turd lambie or a new breed of turds?

It's not lambie, trust me. He's not pretending to be stupid, he actually is and he actually can't speak English. His main purpose here and on at least one other forum is to ridicule his own nation, the Poles (that is why he chose the name of the Polish president who died tragically in 2010) - and because of that he gets on my nerves so much. I'm Polish and I believe there are few things worse than shitting in your own nest. I know I may be overreacting but I feel guilty - apparently he's here because of me as I have recently advertised this thread on a Polish site as a good source of bitcoin news and analyses. Sorry guys, I hope he vanishes quickly. Sad

it's been awhile since i've posted in this thread, and this question has no doubt been asked/posted and answered already. But, hope you can understand why i'm not going to even go back 1 page in this thread to find the answer  Kiss

how come the btc price hasn't really been affected since bitstamps news came out?

Maybe it is affected - by being paralyzed. Stamp was the leading exchange (for some) and when it stopped trading people were confused and now want to buy or sell near the last known price.

Somehow I don't think hackers responsible for a hack on large bitcoin service care so much about bitcoin that they would not dump on first opportunity regardless of price. Or they  may sell it at big discount and then the buyer would dump.

But what hurts the most is image of Bitcoin to outsiders. You have to be really crazy and suicidal guy on wallstreet  to put any serious money into something that's being robbed to oblivion on a yearly basis.

1. 1 ruble will always be 1 ruble too.  May not buy as much as it used to, but hey, you kids know better Roll Eyes
2. Money that you can't use as money is pretty useless.  Almost a truism.
