Didn't Satoshi consider the possibility that a hard fork could be contentious? Why isn't this a real concern?
Its supposed to protect the network, the problem is most people cant see who is creating the so called "controversy" and the "toxic environment" hint, its not the people wanting to scale bitcoin by allowing more people to interact with the blockchain directly.

I think Gavin's basically right that we have to grow quickly to increase decentralization. I'm just playing Satan's lawyer. I just don't understand their fat-headed reluctance to compromise. Come on Blockstreamers now Smile on your Bitcoiner Everybody get together Try to scale with one another Right nowOk that one was weak. Whatever.

Hard to argue with that. You're difficulty is in believing the line that a "contentious™" hard fork is strange or bad. It's how the network fucking WORKS. Of course there is a governance problem... a worrying % of bitcoiners have been sold the idea that there is some kind of power structure or security staff to appeal to in Bitcoin. Fortunately there is, but their votes are counted in PH/s. Their business and future depends on both the success and security of the network + their customers and clients not dumping their ever more useful coins on the market. The sooner you disabuse yourself of this silly notion, the better. Ok let me sleep on this. It seems important.

poor Austin... “I know a number of Blockstream people are frustrated by people who aren’t discussing things with them, talking to other media outlets have you asked theymos what might be the problem? Just sayin, like. Hory Sheet. That drop. I am currently serving a 30 day ban on /r/bitcoin My offence? I replied to Maxwell to counter some ridiculous claims he was making. Blockstream is not interested in discussing anything with anyone, and openly censors people who do not back them 100%. Cry me a river, they can go pound sand for all I care

No I had though there was a change in sentiment for a minute, but maybe the shilling (digital influencer) budget ran dry and "they*" are waiting for the end of the month to refresh the shilling budget before they carry on with new new FUD. * I mention no names to avoid censorship. I also noticed that blocks aren't full so maybe the FUDing starts when there is fire in the kitchen and is there to prevent attention shifting to the need for bigger blocks.

Oh rly? You and that shilling scammer cypherdoc have been in full-blown toxic PR mode since Gavin and Hearn started pulling your heart strings and stroking your sad egos' lust for relevance ... finally an issue dirt-dumb enough to get some leverage over the evil devs.

submitted 3 hours ago * by vbuterinVitalik Buterin - Bitcoin & Ethereum Dev So given that large portions of the bitcoin community seem to be strongly attached to this notion that hard forks are an unforgivable evil, to the point that schemes containing hundreds of lines of code are deemed to be a preferred alternative https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/428tjl/softforking_the_block_time_to_2_min_my_primarily/Anybody notice how the only thing left on the original r/bitcoin is mindless chatter about Breadwallets and links to cheap rags?
