wow! buy orders on Kraken that i watch right now got very strong.. 151 BTC to buy at 1164€
the party is on people!! today maybe we pass gold price?  as we speak gold price: 1,181.12 EURO  with red flags:) and green for BTC Smiley

That's how it goes. When the price rises... BUY!
Meanwhile Coinfloor, the UK's biggest exchange and one of the only ones the bank's haven't hamstrung, is wavering at £999.
Looks like we'll take out the Gox ATH today, which will mean that no one who is holding a bitcoin will have lost money on that bitcoin. Gives you an insight into FOMO since everyone is winning.

Edit: just blew through £1k.

Can you explain this interesting post of you little bit since i lost almost all my bitcoins at that time on Gox how this i happening ? We already lost and we loose every single minute that the time passes and there is not pay out yet.... No matter the price we are going to suffer more or less and we do for the last 3 years almost...if they clear this out then all the community will be happier Smiley

Don't get me wrong I like gold, I've been long gold and silver since 1996, the famous Goat got his gold high school training wheels from the mother-of-another in ye old kitco forum ...

... but time to move with times, gold has it's place, in history mostly and bitcoin is the future.

This. Same journey here.

It seems so long ago,
Some of us went long
Gold grew green candles
and was good to everyone

But this is twenty years later, and further, we are placing our chips today for the next ten.

I just mean that everyone who ever bought a bitcoin and still holds it (so yes, if you lost them in Gox that doesn't count) is now in the black. At $1,242 that even includes the people who bought on Gox at the ATH, assuming they withdrew.
Basically I'm saying that when the price is higher than ever before, everyone feels like they are an amazing trader because they are winning. You can see what sort of behaviour that leads to...

Yes!
The fall in Sterling is partly responsible, but I'll take that anyway. Debt in GBP, earnings in USD/BTC.

This might be the day btc price surpasses the goldprice. Exciting times.
I disagree with this. IMHO such a rise today would be too much. Let's break the Gox ATH on Bitfinex and Bitstamp first. That would make this yet another great day.

Can you explain this interesting post of you little bit since i lost almost all my bitcoins at that time on Gox how this i happening ?
You're starting to look like a spammer. Post less and read more.

I'm not sure why the congratulations are in order. Was this not hit yesterday? Anyhow, 2$ away from another ATH on Stamp.

Update: I made a mistake. The price of gold is much lower than it was the last time I checked.

Gold people coming out of the woodwork against bitcoin heh:

https://i.imgur.com/uo87xY4.png

Both Rickards and Schiff are actually correct, they just don't know why and don't know enough about bitcoin to articulate it, but this is why

The fact is, bitcoin does NOT function as a store of value, period.  The way bitcoin is designed pigeonholes it into acting as a settlement layer, and what is the #1 attribute needed for being a settlement layer?  ...being a store of value.  This makes it kind of inherently designed to fail at what it's supposed to do because bitcoin does not exist in a vacuum, it has to compete against the noble metals.  The noble metals are orders of magnitude better in anti-fragility, store of value, and even decentralization than bitcoin is.

As I said before:

A settlement layer has to compete with or beat gold as a store of value.  Bitcoin cannot accomplish that task so it has to do something else besides being a settlement layer or there is no point!

This means bitcoin's value has to be floated by raw transaction flow instead of people hoarding it for no reason as a store of value.  It is my estimate that you would need something like 5000 TPS in order for bitcoin to function as a raw transaction handler instead of a store of value.  And the following post explains why bitcoin isn't a store of value in the first place:

https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@r0achtheunsavory/the-r0ach-report-vol-7-bitcoin-is-not-an-actual-store-of-value-because-there-is-no-real-price-floor-or-inelastic-demand

*Disclaimer:  I am not bearish on the price of bitcoin in the short term, just that once it's market cap has topped out, everyone is going to convert the profits straight to the base of Exter's pyramid (gold and silver) due to being more anti-fragile and a better store of value.

Hey lmk when ur going to exter's pyramid again. Id love to meet up with u and have a chat there as I need to pick up some gold and silver myself!

woohooooo!!!!  That £1k is a great milestone!!

Yeah the british pound was the last big currency of global importants which wasn't traded in the 4 digits.
Another milestone reached!
We had a great week so far. We've seen new ATHs, the pound finally being in the 4 digits and the chance to break the old, although not really relevant, Mt. Gox all time high this week is great as well.
However I also believe we will cool down a bit within the next days. Many indicators are looking overheated and need some correction.

I just watched the most ridiculous Bitcoin COIN ETF hit piece on Bloomberg video:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2016-12-19/winklevoss-twins-prepare-first-ever-bitcoin-fund

Constant pictures/ video spliced in of 'physical bitcoins' in the background (which everyone knows are collectable and not the real bitcoin, makes it look like a toy), the interviewee pointing out negative after negative, etc.  Both the interviewer and the interviewee were literally laughing and scoffing at the idea of an ETF the whole time, like it was one big joke.

It's like the Media has an agenda to keep Average Joe investors skeptical of Bitcoin and scared away from touching it, and especially investing in the ETF.
