I sold some bitcoins.

And by "sold" I mean, I booked a trip to Tahiti. With bitcoins.

in january i booked some flights to the caribbean for summer vacation. approximately one btc per ticket. yesterday my sister asked if she could also travel with us. i just checked the ticket prices: lol, it is only .35 btc now!

Another day, another ATH. Time for a small break and then again towards $2k territory?

Beginning to wonder how many coins might be "trapped" in China in the hands of people who can't access foreign banks and exchanges and whether that's messing up supply, driving up the price in the west.

Then there's Japanese demand.

It's times like these we should remember the jackasses in Bitcoin history: http://www.businessinsider.com/williams-bitcoin-meltdown-10-2013-12

"I predict that Bitcoin will trade for under $10 a share by the first half of 2014, single digit pricing reflecting its option value as a pure commodity play.  Miners/speculators will be best served to acknowledge the meltdown has begun, act quickly and take fleeting profit off the table."

I can probably buy a cabin by a lake in a town I can afford. It's amazing. If the devil is listening, I'm officially tempted. I'm going to bed. Now would be a good time to dump all over my dreams.

Thanks Bitcoin!

and nothing out of bitfinex for several days about their banking plans. their reddit sub has now been set to private as well. coins are still coming and going fine but the lack of fiat certainly isn't helping the market distortion.

My cold storage is at nearly 500% profit if you take into account what I have invested. I could pay my mortgage off now but I'm looking for more than that. I'm HODLING until about 2021 then hopefully we will be rich AF.

It's counteracting the market distortion from the Chinese exchanges freezing Bitcoin withdrawals. That was suppressing the price until Bitfinex froze fiat withdrawals. Without all the freezes on the exchanges Bitcoin would probably already be above $2000.

Bitcoin could get another giant pump if Bitfinex is still freezing fiat withdrawals when the Chinese exchanges resume Bitcoin withdrawals.

Last edit: May 11, 2017, 10:17:52 AM by bitserve

i simply cannot wrap my brain around this action among the seeming chaos of the scaling issue. to judge by the talk, we should, at best, be stable, not climbing. Yet here we are, record highs.

i really am kicking myself over those 10 coins i sold to my brother for $1000. total. :| at the time, that was the price... heck, i think i actually did it in my favor by a percent or two. argh.

and then there's the 15 or so coins i spent on games and other crap... ugh.

Nothing wrong with spending or selling..

But you are probably indicating that you spent or sold and then you did not replace --- gotta replace when spending.

Now, at these prices, hm?  I might spend and replace just 2/3 of them.. but no matter what gotta consider what portion to replace... even if it is only 20%

You are probably overthinking here... My guesstimate is that Elwar only spent/sold around 1-3% of his holdings, maybe even less than that.

So it looks like we will go for $2000 I think.

It may not quite make 2000 but tonight I'm gonna party like it's $1999.

Sweet memories:
It may not quite make 20 but tonight I'm gonna party like it's $19.99.

That's a great plan. I'm also looking forward to pay off my house with BTC profits. Let's see where 2017 will take us!
