Of course. What I mean is that it is useless to diversify with only $1,000. Better take a well researched assymetric bet than focus on below 5% returns in a richly valued asset investment environment. If there is no assymetric bet to play, perhaps even better to keep cash and plow it in only after a stock market crash.

Yes, I do agree with that. It's only when things start to get serious when you need to start diversifying some unless you already are. Going all in is not that crazy when you have (almost) nothing to lose.

I'm gonna play the devils advocate here and say, if you are young, are smart and do your research, and have a good career (and thus money to invest), then diversification is a terrible idea.

Here's why.

When you're still young (in your 20's), you still have you're whole life ahead of you to invest. So it's smarter to do the research, and focus on some higher risk/reward investments earlier on. If you try and fail, you're still young and have more time to start again.

If you divest too much when your young, then you'll just lose out on big potential gains early on that compound later. Sure you'll eventually retire with a nice safe $500k, or maybe $1-2M, but that'll take you 30-40 yrs to get there. And it won't be enough. If you focus on higher risk earlier on and diversify when you get older, then you'll realize maybe 2x-4x gains over that amount.

It's a different ballgame when you get older. You no longer have the benefit of time (or $$$, as your expenses have increased and likely your relative income has decreased) so you have to play it much safer moving forward.

Either that, or if you are starting over at an older age with next to nothing saved, have to take BIG risks to make up for lost time. Sadly many have to try and do that today. #YOLO

Im pretty sure that anyone under age 30 holding 21 BTC at least, will be pretty wealthy in 10 years and they will still be young. If we manage to get segwit in and lightning network allows for trillions of transactions per second and we reach global adoption, 21 should be enough.

I've always told young people to go all in on bitcoin, and maybe buy some other alt that may explode in the mid term (always with the goal to sell and make more BTC).
They have nothing to lose. Government bonds are stupid, they will crash. Once boomers are forced to sell their bonds, tons of money will go into stocks, gold and bitcoin, and just a small % going on bitcoin can make you rich because it got massive upwards potential.

Young people today are still fed the BS line to diversify their portfolio, and put as much pre-tax $$ into their company's 401k as possible. Because employer match is "free money", amI right?

Maybe they weren't always this way, but I can pretty much tell you that today's 401ks have become a complete scam. Your money is trapped in it until you retire, or you will suffer huge penalty fees for early withdrawal. You can only invest in what your company blesses into the portfolio. Hidden fees abound. And the fund managers take your money, invest it with mega leverage, take a % of returns off the top + fees, and give you what's left over, which isn't much each year.  A paltry amount of return that you could do better on your own with low cost index funds.

After the first 10 years, you'll be surprised how little you have in your 401k, despite how much you've put in. And if you are married and get a divorce (70% statistically likely nowadays), guess who gets half that money that likely didn't contribute anything to it over a decade? Yep, you guessed it.

Of course, Mutual Fund organizations and managers have to keep the ponzi scam going with 401ks. God forbid that people wise up and stop contributing to them en-masse. Then overnight the whole system would fall apart.

I see we're consolidating quite nicely after yesterday's excessive rise and corresponding deep correction... currently $2418USD (Bitcoinaverage).

Too bad our string of green candles ended at 8 but at we moderated the upsurge to the point where only the zaniest fools will call it a bubble.

It might take a few days to reach another ATH now but that's probably good. Steady growth is best.

Too bad our string of green candles ended at 8 but at we moderated the upsurge to the point where only the zaniest fools will call it a bubble.

It might take a few days to reach another ATH now but that's probably good. Steady growth is best.

I just phone ahead to make sure they have enough coins, then head over and pay them cash anonymously for coins directly from their laptop into a paper wallet I supply.. They honor the price listed on their website.

I'm pretty sure they own and operate their own ATM. They're a small family business.

The last couple of days they've displayed this:

The only time I ever sold any Bitcoin was to sell $150 worth because I was short on pocket cash and was going to the ballpark.

I did that when Decentral still had their ATM on premises. I hadn't thought that I'd have to wait for 6 confirmations to get my cash. Silly me. I didn't want to miss a pitch so I went to the game and realized I didn't really need to sell after all. I didn't go thirsty. Got my cash after the game.

Now if I ever needed a small amount of cash to tide me over, I'd go to Deloitte. They don't charge any fee to sell but they have a $100 daily limit:



For larger amounts I'd use York Foreign Exchange. They're downtown and only charge 3%. I'm not sure of their limit but a friend sold $2000 worth recently with no problem:

This correction looks quite healthy, price was going into bubble zone but finally the drop appeared, later than what i expected but still in a good place. I had to sell a small % of my btc just to take some profits and hodl my last investment without risks. But i freaking hate to sell. Buying the dips is a LOT easier. As i needed to sell, i was looking to do it in a good place to get a chance to enter again in a lower level. I expected a correction between 2400/2500$, but it gone further to 2800$ and dropped to 2200$, so it was not smart to buy again. Now here i am with my stinky fiat, but at least i have some bucks ready to spend just in case it drops and tries the 2000$ support .
