Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

The bitcoin market has never taken money from me besides the occasional transaction fee and whatnot, so I can't even imagine what it would feel like buying a $2800 bitcoin and the price immediately going to $2000, but I'm sure that guy is in this thread somewhere.

I can remember buying coins pre-gox failure only to have them drop in value a large amount.  It didn't feel great, but now I wish I could go back in time and buy more at the same time.  At the end of the day, everyone who has ever held Bitcoin has made money.  If you bought at $2700 and are sad about losing, 1. you shouldn't have invested in a crypto at the top of a parabolic rise and expected to see immediate returns if you can't afford to lose some.  And, 2. just keep holding, no one who has held Bitcoin long term has ever lost money.

There isn't any really strong reason for a bubble pop like on previous occasions, so I'm still sticking with the theory that this is a big and necessary correction. We've just entered the panic sell stage where the whales make their greatest profits. A bit more of that now I expect

yup

Frankly i was expecting them to drop more, any alt is more volatile than BTC, so in good time sheeple run to ALTs for bigger swings, in bad times sheeple run back to BTC for more stability.
Higher market cap = less volatility

Can you explain a bit what you just said. I feel that it contradict between BTC and ETH right now though the market cap is far different.

That would seem reasonable, yes. But whale dumping with panic dumping is ostensibly unreasonable and ruthless

Ehh well a $10MM market sell would probably devastate a small market cap company, AAPL (apple) would barely notice it
