Ha I'm actually going to buy a 1 or 5 kg silver bar now thanks to your discussions. Not as an investment but for fun decoration, much like bitserve, cool idea.

The longer btc-e is down, the lower the price will go on speculation that yet another exchange was hacked.

Cost of production to mine anything in space will be astronomical so you're wasting my time even mentioning it. You might as well claim we will mine gold inside a black hole or alternate dimension. We would probably attempt to mine metals 2 miles under the ocean long before space but that is of course no threat to anyone buying at current prices.
http://www.planetaryresources.com/http://deepspaceindustries.com/Cost to start mining will be astronomical but so will be the quantities mined. Asteroid mining is not that far away in time. Privatization of space industry is bringing down costs. You don't really know whether the costs will be so high that the market won't be flooded enough to keep the price of precious metals down.

Welcome to the Mental Metal Observer price movement tracking and paperweight decorations, by the way.
BTC.e keep flatlining and time to extract your BTCs from exchanges is running out. I would like to hear about your strategies about letting some in your fav exchange to do some machiavelic last minute trades

I'm wondering if the reason the price has been dropping is because "hackers" are selling off "stolen" coins from BTC-E.
These stories about BTC-e hacking are not confirmed yet; however, the longer that BTC-e is down, the more suspicions arise. BTC-e has not provided very many details. The latest tweet was 13 hours ago: >>>>>>>>We are still continue to perform our unscheduled ongoing maintenance. Will keep you updated. Sorry for the inconvenience<<<<<<<< https://twitter.com/btcecomThere is a rumor of the compromise of 66k BTC or something like that ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6pkjny/and_while_btce_is_down_some_169m_bitcoin_fortune/) - which would probably be a decent proportion of their coins - and I am NOT sure if any exchange is going to come out of a supposed "hack" like Bitfinex did... with the 36% socialized haircut example (August 2016). Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. I am starting to get a little bit worried on a personal level. I have about 3% of my bitcoin holdings trading on that exchange... so I would not like any kind of loss, which is seeming more and more probable with the passage of time and without getting some kind of alternative innocent explanation.

Lol, this is complete bullshit and those companies are basically Buttalik Butterin IPO scams. It's such bullshit they can't even create a valid infographic of what said mining would look like. Does this look like something you're going to see anytime soon or even a valid way to mine in the first place? LOL. Let me guess, the structure on the left is a Dyson sphere they're trying to maneuver around the sun to start up the miner (which probably also mines bitcoin at the same time):

You don't have to maneuver kilometer long asteroids, small ones will do, there are ones passing close by Earth, you don't have to go to the other side of the Sun or something. It will probably be a couple decades but you shouldn't be so dismissive of it, especially if you're betting all on precious metals
