In germany a court recently allowed banks to collect negative interest for savings from their customers. It's like they are forcing us to buy bitcoin.

source: I only find german sources: http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/service/kleinsparer-gericht-haelt-negativzinsen-bei-neuvertraegen-fuer-zulaessig-a-1182416.html

Aww man, that's just criminal. These banks are going to go extinct.

I seriously thought that 15% dip after 1000% gain this year was the end of cryptography.

I burned all of my private keys, opened up my server to telnet instead of ssh, stopped using a website if it was https instead of http and moved to a wooden house in middle of nowhere.

Nice to see you've finally come to your senses my friend..... Wink

Source : http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-12-09/new-cme-bitcoin-futures-and-goldman-sachs-connection

Quote
“CME Group's Bitcoin futures will be cash-settled, based on the CME CF Bitcoin Reference Rate (BRR) which serves as a once-a-day reference rate of the U.S. dollar price of bitcoin.

Since November 2016, CME Group and Crypto Facilities Ltd. have calculated and published the BRR, which aggregates the trade flow of major bitcoin spot exchanges during a calculation window into the U.S. Dollar price of one bitcoin as of 4:00 p.m. London time.

The BRR is designed around the IOSCO Principles for Financial Benchmarks.

Bitstamp, GDAX, itBit and Kraken are the constituent exchanges that currently contribute the pricing data for calculating the BRR.”

A reference rate / benchmark calculated in the City of London that is used as a basis for the settlement of multi-billion dollar financial contracts.

Wait, where have we heard that before ?

I really don't get why they're referencing Kraken. It's not regulated, the USD market is tiny, plus it doesn't really work.

don't worry, they are prepared. they freeze your money to prevent bank runs: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-eu-banks-deposits/eu-explores-account-freezes-to-prevent-runs-at-failing-banks-idUSKBN1AD1RS

people really need to see the bigger picture of what is coming.

I'm totally fucked at Coinbase. Sitting on an obscene amount of fiat from a recent sale, but don't have access to my Funding/Withdrawal page. Something 'tarded like below is what I'm getting.

Sheeeeeeit.

Why on Earth didn't you do an OTC sale? There's no way I'd trust any exchange with amounts above a few grand. They're too prone to freeze you over AML shite.
How exactly are you going to do an OTC sale for an "obscene amount of fiat" without exposing yourself to extreme risks?

You bring some crypto friends, you hire a bodyguard. Smiley

ya if you have never had a fistfight over a BTC deal then you are a n00b Wink lulz

Good morning Bitcoinland. Missed yesterday due to internet connectivity issues. Both my landline and my mobile were down and I was forced to go out to restaurants/bars/coffeeshops just to check the price. Then I got to my gig last night to find out they don't have wifi.

Seems we had quite a day with some serious correction/panic before bouncing right back up over $15k.... currently $15308USD/$19669CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Old coins are currently worth $16861USD/21664CAD (Coinmarketcap).

Now that that's over with, we can start going back up again. Hopefully we'll see another ATH within a few days.

Go Bitcoin go.

my old buddy called me yesterday and said why didn't you tell me BTC was a stock :-D bwaaahahah

mornin' Jimbo

Mornin' Jojo.

I just got a call from a friend who has played the stock market and PMs for decades. After watching my involvement with Bitcoin for a few years, he finally broke down and bought his first coins this summer. I think it was my earning my first million that woke him up. I helped him buy and set up a Trezor and taught him how to buy the dips and get the best prices at his local ATMs.

Needless to say, he's tickled pink at the return on his investment so far, even though it's still very tiny, less than a whole coin I believe.

Seems that now all his "financial advisors" are screaming for him to buy Bitcoin, citing Wall Street adoption. Now he's talking about calling his brokers and selling off a good portion of his stocks to buy more coins.

2 years ago his advisors were suggesting he buy Bitcoin and I suggested he listen to them, but instead he kept buying stocks and PMs. Every time he came over he'd be touting his most recent stock-du-jour while watching Bitcoin prices relentlessly rising and doing nothing.

Now he wants to dive in gung-ho. Go figure.  Roll Eyes

... because I thought I was properly verified for the level of play I was looking for.

Got this email just prior to doing the sale.

Fuck me, right ?

Can you buy Bitcoin with it or is the account locked?  Might as well ride the train again while you're waiting Wink  CCMF

Bob

keep us posted on how this develops...seriously.

We all know exchanges are a (for now) necessary evil/tool of the man, but if Coinbase is actively handing out fuckings à la Kraken we need to know.

At the fees they charge for selling BTC and buying back in, i'm hoping they have enough money to be reputable but i don't know.  If i have a wallet, my hard drive will probably break or paper would be lost but i may think about doing it as a paper wallet if im only holding 1 btc to 1 million

What people think BOA patent news means: mass adoption of crypto

What it actually means: Cease and desist orders to all existing crypto exchanges, and either no use of the patent or use for proprietary bank coins

Good thing decentralized exchanges won't give a damn.
