Thats also my plan. Smiley

All this has a bittersweet taste for me;  because I got into bitcoin just 1 week before i registered here..
more than 6 years since that time when i got my first coins, and  almost everything got wrong..    Embarrassed

but im still kicking and hoping for better times  Cheesy

Ouch, I think some people here, like Arklan, also started in 2011 and supposedly end up with barely anything.  But like Rosewater said, if Andreas Antonopoulos can end up with almost no bitcoin and only recently become debt free, then any bitcoiners can end up making wrong calls that eventually see most of their paper wealth evaporate (and that includes even the current semi-billionaire such as Roger Ver).
it was not just wrong calls.  I was hit by too many scams and hacks etc..
I was scammed on IRC OTC market, I was Goxed, and in the meantime scammed on couple of other small exchanges too (i remember mooncoin, bitparking, tradehill and there were some others i had coins on- i dont remember the exact sequence of events, but i was there with my coins in the wrong time). then got sick of it, got rid of all usefull coins and left back to forex for some time.
And of course I came back, trying altcoins: just in time for getting Cryptsied few months later.. Cheesy.. (bitfinex hack didnt hit me much, because at that time i had very little left there and it was paid back later)

It was pretty bumpy ride for those who wanted to trade on exchanges when the crypto industry was very young. Thats the part newbies today dont think about too much, when they are looking on exponential charts.

This spring I returned again. But I dont envy those who kept their cheap bitcoins (or some alts) from the beginning. They deserve it.

in my case, longterm under/unemployment and selling my btc before the 2013 spike... and lots of dumb choices.
yep this one too, I was looking for job for more than a year, after i finished school.  Perhaps i wouldnt bother to sell what was left for a few hundred dollars, if i didnt need money..

As for my bad trading decisions, it took me pretty long time to learn that bitcoin/fiat pair is quite different beast than forex or other financial instruments, and that shorting is not a good idea.. The same mistake as many so called "experts" are making today.

Anyone trying to run a business on ETH using smart contracts would be screwed by this latest price rise.  Gas was already outrageously expensive at US$400.  And that includes 90% of ICOs.

My take away from that video are three things:

1) Jim Cramer still dropping subtle hints that existing bitcoin holders should take profits, because he knows damn well that the biggest problem Wall Street is facing right now with bitcoin is finding more supply. No supply == no control of the market.

2) Jim Cramer admits at the very end that Bitcoin is going a lot higher, even though he was just saying two weeks ago that the bubble is going to pop any day now.

3) He's still a complete idiot. Never fkn forget:

In all seriousness, what the hell happened last night? We're over 1000 down from when I went to bed. Or is that just the kind of fluctuations we have now?

As far as I'm aware there is no direct link between Bitcoin futures and Bitcoin itself. So even if Bitcoin follows the futures and goes short, the market should eventually realize that the futures price is irrelevant. Correct me if I'm wrong, still not 100% clear on the whole futures business.

It's altcoin trading that fucks you. Holding ETH from 50 cents in 2015 looks like an unobjectionable move to me.

It’s easy to cherry pick with the benefit of hindsight.  Far too many old school bitcoiners sank their battleship diversifying into alts.

Gentlemand probably already knows this, but one of the reasons that most of us Bitcoin old timers didn't just dive in and scoop up ETH (then ETC) at $0.50 each by the truck load was because all of us actually *did* do the research, and found Ethereum completely lacking in its design, structure, pre-mined nature, rate of issuance, and lack of hard cap limit for either a store of value or as a currency. Even Vitalik warned people right away that he didn't regard ETH as a currency at all, and certainly didn't regard it as a competitor to Bitcoin. Of course all of that history is likely now lost on the newbs. They couldn't care less.

We didn't like it then, and still don't like it now. The price does not matter. Hell, I can remember when Adam had quite a bit of Ethereum as part of the initial offering, and in this forum he couldn't even give them away.  No one cared about it.

Just because something's price changes higher, doesn't automatically make it worth anything. Just go ask the thousands of people that were fooled and destroyed by penny stock pump and dumps. Or people destroyed in the Dot Com era by investing in IPO companies.

Hear ye, hear ye and its high price does not invalidate those original criticisms.

Of course it's creaky shite. But throwing a few dollars at something that may net a large amount of free money down the line is something many here can live with.

If you chucked 100 BTC at it you were fucking certifiable. If you could kiss $500 goodbye when market caps were in the tens of millions then why the hell not?

Jimbo on a rampage with forum bug. Cheesy Cheesy

Annoying as phuque.

Kept going to cloudflare, kept retrying, kept getting that annoying "another reply has been posted you may wish to review" message, finally find out I'd posted the same message a half dozen times.

I then wasted almost as much time deleting the extraneous messages.

Perhaps Theymos should consider disabling that annoying message during DDoS attacks or other periods of stress on the servers.
Agreed.  Or if there is like >10 messages a minute being posted on a thread.
We need cutting edge scaling technology for our Wall Observer thread  Grin .
