God damn. Took long enough, but we can now be certain we've seen the highest prices bitcoin will ever achieve. Long term is only down.
based on what?

proudhon: yeah, thats some point, but do we really need new all time highs every month for cryptos to work as decentralised payment system?
We actually dont.

We actually dont.

Cryptos can't work as a decentralized payment system whether the price is high or low, or bouncing all around. Cryptos just don't work and the market is taking its time to learn that, but we're now in the final long term down trend because enough people have realized it.

What'll be interesting about this action is that exchanges were strained to breaking point by buyer enthusiasm. They might be broken completely by seller panic. There've never been these numbers involved before.

I've notice Coinbase buys and sells ain't working.

If you think liquidity is an issue now. Just wait until the big boys start to realize they need to balance their holdings with actual BTC so that they can play in the market. All other alts will benefit.

In 2020 it will be 20/20 Cheesy

wrong.
i bought and used cryptos (BTC, LTC) to buy real and virtual stuff many times. independent of its price. as long as there are means of exchange and shops/people accepting them, it works

The big boys just want to short it to the ground, to keep their status quo.

They will pump it, of course, but the dumps will be even worse. Get used to it, this will be normal now.

Do you think they want a rich Earth, where the work is done by robots and everybody lives in comfort? Thats a programmer pipe dream.

In the long run there is far less money to be made by shorting.
They've only got $12500 to go and its zero, people aren't interested in a falling market.

But if you create bubbles, more money jumps in and there is more to make. Just like all the other markets, the big boys will pump it up to insane values, they will cream off their share, so will we, and in the mean time, during this opportunity,  Bitcoin will blossom into something amazing.

Well, at least the fees are lower now.... Still way more expensive than FREE sepa bank transfers though.

Hey Luke, now that we DO know that the fee market works really well in subsidizing miners... can we go back to the good old "cheap tx's" until the next halving, please?

Maybe that will restore confidence in Bitcoin for the masses.... just saying.

Or, If a blocksize increase is not on the cards.... how about halving it? Maybe that will force everyone to use Segwit and accelerate LN development/deployment. No temporal fixes like a blocksize increase... no...  What we got to lose? Let's just go full retard and do an all or nothing!

Doesn't matter. Those of us who understand what this thing is will just keep getting richer the more they pump and dump.

Normally they would just destroy someone who came up with a disruptive economic idea, by whatever legal or illegal means needed to get it done, but they can't do that here. There is no single point of failure, and global political cooperation to outlaw it is not even technically possible. They can't even go after the guy who released it upon the world. There is no plausible failure scenario left.

They can mostly manipulate from 10k up... before the futures were not announced. Many bought the dip now, so if they want to manipulate the market again, they need to spend more (plus, we will become more prepared as they continue to do so)
Maybe some hodlers fail to hodl at 10k, but let's wait and see

LOL banks are closed for 4 days, people cant wire money to buy the dip....well played Cool

That only leaves Jimbo Toronto's favored buying option of stuffing cash into Bitcoin ATMs, and they will probably soon be too full of cash to accept any more.

No it doesn't. Over here you can use Swish 24/7 for immediate bank transfers, no fee, and btcx.se is open  24/7 and accepts Swish. That's usually where I buy now that the buy option on Blockchain.info is disabled.

In all seriousness the status quo is going to take a huge hit. Back in 2008 when there was a credit liquidity issue we did not have the Bitcoin (BTC). The next global reset in 2020 is were BTC and this technology will shine.

One of the most important things that we have seen since 2009 and unfortunately the worlds greed snaked its way into this project early on. BTC had a solution for it as greed does have a place and helps motivate people. However fear is another tool that is used to manipulate. That fear is when those in power show up with rules to bring "order".

Add in projects like lightning and the value that BTC brings to the issues we face just 2 years from now will be so obvious even legally blind economists will see the possibilities.

The Independent (UK Newspaper) is truly a pathetic excuse for journalism

Quote
"For the average person like me, bitcoin is always a gamble", he told The Independent. "But people are treating it like a punt".

The entrepreneur says he's staying away from bitcoin for now, and may look into alternative cryptocurrencies such as ripple - "something with more substance - but only a little more", although he admits that "substance" isn't the best word for cryptocurrencies at the moment.

Once VR becomes fully immersive and people can create arbitrary experiences at will regardless of income nobody will give a shit about money anymore anyways. And that point isn't all that far in the future. So it really doesn't matter what "they" want.

A good indicator is always to look at the total crypto market cap. As you can see with the recent release of BCH from coindesk that "moved" out of the crypto ecosystem into fiat of choice.

Also year end is a big player not to rule out the Elephant in the room groups attempting to take over BTC. That coup d'etat that fails but never gets a hint will add further disruption.
