I find that whenever i try to follow these speculation threads i always get lost pretty quickly once people start pulling out the numbers/graphs, how did you guys start learning how to read and process all this information and make predictions from them?

The thing is it's 99% bullshit.
Nobody here can predict where Bitcoin is coming.
Ignore all the graphs and drawings. They are totally useless and the people using them are delusional.
Just ask any of those guys if they are a millionaire. They will ignore you. That says enough.
*Going*  Wink

Going, yup Smiley
Grin You are right about it, Studying graphs over a weekend ok because of banks closing but we cant use graphs if it's not normal, we should be going off whether it's becoming adopted by mainstream or not.  Next week Walmart could be selling bitcoin giftcards or western union installing ATM's all over the world and then suddenly BOOM! But you just have to wait, massage that bitcoin into people's minds  Smiley

agreed with niothor.

This is just a reminder to those who might have forgotten or those who are new to bitcoin.

Rpietila is shouting doom and gloom all over the forum, but until the beginning of the year he was predicting a bitcoin valuation of several hundred thousand USD. That was whilst he was in a manic phase, during which his behavior on these forums, as well as in real life caused much sensation and is well documented for those interested in using the search function.

He was subsequently involuntarily hospitalized in a psychiatric facility, diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder, with multiple delusions of grandeur. He now seems to be in a depressive phase of his illness and is spreading doom and gloom on the speculation forums. Either that, or he has sold just before we hit 1000 and is now regretting his mistake.

Either way, thread carefully with him

That's the cheapest form of attack. You try to discredit the person instead of attacking his actual arguments. Ad Hominem is a very low debate tactic. Maybe he has a mental illness. Many people have. It doesn't mean they can't make significant intellectual contributions.

I agree. Furthermore mental health is a very relative concept.

Agreed. Mental illness categorization is very controversial and Ad hominem is BS. But this is the point:

Quote
This forum is rpietilas one part of hes job to make money. He has good informative posts, but hes making them to create trust which he uses then to manipulate when he makes these predictions. So read hes informative posts, but ignore hes predictions and you are somewhat okay. But don't eat hes "stop-loss is for fools" bs. Buying back at loss is the most important thing in long-term profitable low risk trading, at least if you're not manipulator.

I tried to attack his arguments, but he deleted my post (and not only my) from his moderated thread.

And why didn't you write there that it's a brain wallet? If the phrase is too simple, it's easily cracked. OK, let's close it here for now because of off-topic. But why move it to reddit (I don't have an account there and don't care to join for now), and not just open a new thread here?

Thanks for caring Cheesy I did open a thread here and one person replied. I corrected it. It is not a brain wallet, but a normal address like the rest in my wallet. I labelled this address "Brain wallet" long ago for reasons unknown, therefore the confusion. I registered on reddit today for this purpose since I'm willing to pursue solving this issue. 0.9 BTC is a significant value for me, so I'm just pursuing my options.

EDIT: Thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=352732.0

I wonder if the 0% trading fees at the largest exchanges (china & gox) is contributing to this misleading stability.

Invest one btc in ltc. Wait for mtgox to add ltc (they already announced it). Wait for ltc price to double its current price during the bubble. Buy back btc recovering the lost one. And never use those apps you used again Tongue.

A certain regular contributor to here has two 'attack threads' about him set up - WTF?!

They are personal and relate to health issues etc.   I am pretty pissed off about it and I have said so, but of course that only makes the threads more current...

Whatever you think - I just want to say that I dislike this forum being policed by people who want to publicly disgrace others.

We are all a little bit out there, or we wouldn't be doing this - can I make a 'live and let live' plea, please?

Got that off my chest, back to candle-watching!

Yes too much of ranting happening over there. Let a man discuss his ideas which he has researched on.
