The crash was basically a big profit-taking dump masquerading as supposedly negative China news in order to suck in more panic sellers for the re-buy.
This is where all the doom and gloom FUD-spreaders are going to come back into the thread and admit they were wrong/lying, right?

So, uh, why is Gox $100 higher than all the other exchanges all of a sudden? I really don't understand.

A whale panicked and splurged $2m that he should have spent a few hours earlier, instead of waiting for a drop.

I am expecting resistance between $907 - 970'ish, so it will be interesting to see what happens here.

I've been gloomy-- I'll admit I thought we'd seen this run-up take its course!

Eating up quickly so price moves to a new level, and sellers don't have time/willingness to put sells at previous level.

Yeah, market buys and sells have their place for those who can handle them. Sometimes they are exactly the right move.

Edit: They do reduce liquidity and go against the market, so it's at a cost to be an aggressive player.

I think a large proportion of this is bot-driven, because there is absolutely no way the EMA method is this damn good in reality.

Pretty much.

That's the first buy like that out of the blue I ever remember. Sure it's happened before, but that was slightly epic. It was like watching a parabolic rise at the top of a rally.

Seriously, why is everyone so surprised?   The market needed a correction off of $1240, but nothing actually happened to reduce bitcoin's appeal.   There is no way that there are or have been enough coins for sale for those who sold out to recover their positions, so the price must rise.   And as they say, there is no such thing as bad news . . .

doesn't that mean that there's a lot more room for growth then? it is kind of unnerving how finicky btc can be.
